Abstract
An infeed assembly for a necker machine includes a full inspection assembly wherein the full inspection assembly is structured to be coupled to a necker machine frame assembly.
Claims14
An infeed assembly for a necker machine, said necker machine including a frame assembly, said necker machine frame assembly having an upstream end and a downstream end, said necker machine defining a work path having an upstream end and a downstream end, said infeed assembly comprising:
- a full inspection assembly having a plurality of inspection devices, a first starwheel, and a second starwheel adjacent to the first starwheel, each inspection device positioned at one of the first and second starwheels;
- said full inspection assembly including a number of starwheel guide assemblies, each starwheel guide assembly associated with one of the first and second starwheels;
- each starwheel guide assembly including a starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly, a starwheel guide assembly support assembly, a number of starwheel guide assembly guiderails, and a starwheel guide assembly can body height adjustment assembly;
- said starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly coupled to said starwheel guide assembly support assembly;
- said number of starwheel guide assembly guiderails coupled to a said starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly;
- said starwheel guide assembly can body height adjustment mounting assembly coupled to at least one said starwheel guide assembly guiderail;
- wherein at least one of said starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly or said can body height adjustment assembly is a quick-change assembly;
- each starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly includes a body;
- each starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly body defines a single active coupling passage;
- and
- each starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly body single active coupling passage coupled to a single starwheel guide assembly mounting base retained coupling.

A necker machine comprising:
- a frame assembly having an upstream end and a downstream end;
- a work path defined by necking components, the work path having an upstream end and a downstream end;
- an infeed assembly including a full inspection assembly having a plurality of inspection devices, a first starwheel, and a second starwheel adjacent to the first starwheel, the full inspection assembly positioned along a limited portion of the workpath such that each inspection device of the plurality of inspection devices is positioned at one of the first and second starwheels,
- said full inspection assembly including a number of starwheel guide assemblies, each starwheel guide assembly associated with one of the first and second starwheels;
- each starwheel guide assembly including a starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly, a starwheel guide assembly support assembly, a number of starwheel guide assembly guiderails, and a starwheel guide assembly can body height adjustment assembly;
- said starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly coupled to said starwheel guide assembly support assembly;
- said number of starwheel guide assembly guiderails coupled to a said starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly;
- said starwheel guide assembly can body height adjustment mounting assembly coupled to at least one said starwheel guide assembly guiderail;
- wherein at least one of said starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly or said can body height adjustment assembly is a quick-change assembly;
- each starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly includes a body;
- each starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly body defines a single active coupling passage;
- and
- each starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly body single active coupling passage coupled to a single starwheel guide assembly mounting base retained coupling,
- wherein said full inspection assembly is coupled to the upstream end of said frame assembly.

A necker machine comprising:
- a frame assembly having an upstream end and a downstream end;
- a plurality of processing stations coupled to the frame assembly defining a work path having an upstream end and a downstream end;
- and
- an infeed assembly including an inspection assembly directly coupled to the upstream end of the frame assembly, the inspection assembly including a first starwheel and second starwheel adjacent to the first starwheel,
- wherein the inspection assembly comprises a plurality of inspection devices positioned, each positioned at one of the first and second starwheels;
- said inspection assembly including a number of starwheel guide assemblies, each starwheel guide assembly associated with one of the first and second starwheels;
- each starwheel guide assembly including a starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly, a starwheel guide assembly support assembly, a number of starwheel guide assembly guiderails, and a starwheel guide assembly can body height adjustment assembly;
- said starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly coupled to said starwheel guide assembly support assembly;
- said number of starwheel guide assembly guiderails coupled to a said starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly;
- said starwheel guide assembly can body height adjustment mounting assembly coupled to at least one said starwheel guide assembly guiderail;
- wherein at least one of said starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly or said can body height adjustment assembly is a quick-change assembly;
- each starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly includes a body;
- each starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly body defines a single active coupling passage;
- and
- each starwheel guide assembly mounting assembly body single active coupling passage coupled to a single starwheel guide assembly mounting base retained coupling.
