Abstract
Provided herein are metal organic frameworks comprising metal nodes and N-donor organic ligands which have high selectivity and stability in the present of gases and vapors including H2S, H2O, and CO2. Methods include capturing one or more of H2S, H2O, and CO2 from fluid compositions, such as natural gas.
Claims12
A method of capturing chemical species from a fluid composition, comprising:
- contacting a metal organic framework of formula [MaMbF6-n(O/H2O)w(Ligand)x(solvent)y]z with a fluid composition including at least carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide;
- and
- capturing carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from the fluid composition;
- wherein Ma is selected from periodic groups IB, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IVA, IVB, VIB, VIIB, and VIII;
- wherein Mb is selected from Al+3, Ga3+, Fe+2, Fe+3, Cr2+, Cr3+, Ti3+, V3+, V5+, Sc3+, In3+, Nb5+, and Y3+;
- wherein the Ligand is a polyfunctional organic ligand, and x is 1 or more;
- wherein n is 1, w is 1, x is 2, y is 0 to 4, solvent is a guest molecule, and z is at least 1.
