Abstract
Improved hydrogel configurations for use with a TTField-generating system is disclosed. Also disclosed are kits containing the improved hydrogel configurations and methods of producing and using the improved hydrogel configurations.
Claims21
A tumor treating field system, comprising:
- a transducer array operable to receive a power from a power source and generate an alternating electric field having a frequency in a range of from about 50 kHz to about 500 kHz when paired with a second transducer array, the transducer array comprising at least a conducting layer having a first surface and a second surface, and a high capacitance layer having a first surface in contact with the second surface of the conducting layer, a second surface, and a first perforation wall extending from the second surface of the high capacitance layer to the first surface of the high capacitance layer thereby forming a first perforation;
- and
- a hydrogel layer, the hydrogel layer comprising a polymerized conductive hydrogel for application to a patient's skin and for placement between the patient's skin and the transducer array, wherein the hydrogel layer comprises a top surface in contact with the second surface of the high capacitance layer and a bottom surface, further wherein the hydrogel layer comprises a second perforation wall extending from the top surface of the hydrogel layer to the bottom surface of the hydrogel layer through the polymerized conductive hydrogel;
- the second perforation wall forming a second perforation aligned with the first perforation.

A tumor treating field system, comprising:
- a transducer array operable to receive a power from a power source and generate an alternating electric field having a frequency in a range of from about 50 kHz to about 500 kHz when paired with a second transducer array, the transducer array comprising at least a conducting layer having a first surface and a second surface, and a high capacitance layer having a first surface in contact with the second surface of the conducting layer and a second surface;
- and
- a hydrogel layer, the hydrogel layer comprising a polymerized conductive hydrogel for application to a patient's skin and for placement between the patient's skin and the transducer array, wherein the hydrogel layer comprises a top surface in contact with the second surface of the high capacitance layer and a bottom surface operable to contact the patient's skin, further wherein the hydrogel layer comprises at least one protrusion extending from the bottom surface of the hydrogel layer.
A TTField-generating system, comprising:
- at least one insulated electrode, the at least one electrode comprising at least one non-conducting layer, at least one conducting layer, and a high capacitance layer having a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein at least one opening is disposed between the top surface and the bottom surface of the high capacitance layer, further wherein the at least one conducting layer is operable to receive power from a power source and is configured to generate an alternating electric field having a frequency in a range from about 50 kHz to about 500 kHz upon receiving the power;
- and
- at least one perforated hydrogel, the at least one perforated hydrogel comprising a polymerized conductive gel having a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein the top surface of the perforated hydrogel adheres to the bottom surface of the high capacitance layer and the bottom surface of the perforated hydrogel configured to adhere to a patient's skin, further wherein the perforated hydrogel comprises at least one perforation extending from the top surface to the bottom surface through the perforated hydrogel.
