Abstract
The invention relates to a device for use in the transcatheter treatment of mitral valve regurgitation, specifically a coaptation assistance element for implantation across the valve; a system including the coaptation assistance element and anchors for implantation; a system including the coaptation assistance element and delivery catheter; and a method for transcatheter implantation of a coaptation element across a heart valve.
Claims20
A method of delivering a coaptation assistance element for treating mal-coaptation of a heart valve, the heart valve having an annulus, the method comprising:
- positioning an implant delivery system relative to a primary anchor location, the implant delivery system comprising a primary anchor housing disposed relative to a hub of a coaptation assistance element, the coaptation assistance element comprising a first surface and an opposed second surface, each surface bounded by a first lateral edge, a second lateral edge, an inferior edge, and a superior edge;
- rotating a primary anchor driver relative to the primary anchor housing to engage a primary anchor with the annulus at the primary anchor location;
- and
- delivering a secondary anchor to a secondary anchor location, the secondary anchor guided by a secondary anchor guide rail toward the secondary anchor location after the primary anchor engages the annulus.
A method of delivering a coaptation assistance element for treating mal-coaptation of a heart valve, the heart valve having an annulus, the method comprising:
- positioning an implant delivery system relative to a primary anchor location, the implant delivery system comprising a primary anchor housing disposed relative to a hub of a coaptation assistance element, the coaptation assistance element comprising a first surface and an opposed second surface, each surface bounded by a first lateral edge, a second lateral edge, an inferior edge, and a superior edge;
- rotating a primary anchor driver relative to the hub to engage a primary anchor with the annulus at the primary anchor location;
- and
- rotating a secondary anchor driver relative to the coaptation assistance element to engage a secondary anchor with the annulus at a secondary anchor location.
A method of delivering a coaptation assistance element for treating mal-coaptation of a heart valve, the heart valve having an annulus, the method comprising:
- positioning an implant delivery system relative to a primary anchor location, the implant delivery system comprising a primary anchor housing disposed relative to a hub of a coaptation assistance element, the coaptation assistance element comprising a first surface and an opposed second surface, each surface bounded by a first lateral edge, a second lateral edge, an inferior edge, and a superior edge;
- rotating a primary anchor driver relative to the primary anchor housing and the hub, wherein rotating the primary anchor driver rotates a primary anchor into engagement with the annulus at the primary anchor location;
- and
- releasing the primary anchor housing from the hub after the primary anchor engages the annulus.
