Abstract
Methods described herein include prefetching information for a future visitor to a webpage or other resource. Prefetching the information can allow a provider to customize the webpage or resource with reduced latency. The methods can include notifying an experience provider associated with an advertisement prior to the user requesting the webpage or other resource. The notification can provide identification information corresponding to the client device or user. The notification also indicates that the client device or a user is about to be directed to the webpage or other resource. The notification can allow for retrieval of profile information associated with the identification information prior to the direction of the client device to the webpage or other resource.
Claims20
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause a computing device to:
- receive a notification comprising a unique identifier and identification information corresponding to a user, wherein the notification indicates that a client device is about to be redirected away from a first web page displaying an advertisement to a second web page hosted by the computing device, wherein the notification is received prior to a request by the client device to navigate to the second web page within a web browser of the client device reaching the computing device;
- in response to the notification, retrieve profile information associated with the user based on the identification information prior to the client device of the user being redirected to the second web page;
- customize the second web page for the user based on the profile information;
- receive a request for the second web page from the client device, the request including the unique identifier;
- and
- provide the customized second web page to the client device in response to the request.
A method of obtaining information for a future visitor, comprising:
- receiving, by a server, a notification comprising a unique identifier and identification information corresponding to a user, wherein the notification indicates that a client device is about to be redirected away from a first web page displaying an advertisement to a second web page hosted by the server, wherein the notification is received prior to a request by the client device to navigate to the second web page within a web browser of the client device reaching the server;
- in response to the notification, retrieving, by the server, profile information associated with the user based on the identification information prior to the client device of the user being redirected to the second web page;
- customizing the second web page for the user based on the profile information;
- receiving a request for the second web page from the client device, the request including the unique identifier;
- and
- providing the customized second web page to the client device in response to the request.
A system for prefetching information for resource customization, comprising:
- a server configured to cause the system to:
- receive a notification comprising a unique identifier and identification information corresponding to a user, wherein the notification indicates that a client device is about to be redirected away from a first resource displaying an advertisement to a second resource hosted by the server, wherein the notification is received prior to a request by the client device to navigate to the second resource reaching the server;
- in response to the notification, retrieve profile information associated with the user based on the identification information prior to the client device of the user being redirected to the second resource;
- customize the second resource for the user based on the profile information;
- receive a request for the second resource from the client device after receiving the notification, the request including the unique identifier;
- and
- provide the customized second resource to the client device in response to the request.
