Abstract
A method for use in a biometric process, comprising: for a first function and a second function, applying an acoustic stimulus to a user's ear; and for the second function: receiving a response signal of a user's ear to the acoustic stimulus; and extracting, from the response signal, one or more features for use in a biometric process, wherein the first function is a function other than to induce the response signal for use in the biometric process.
Claims21
A method for use in a biometric process, comprising:
- applying a first acoustic stimulus to a user's ear, the first acoustic stimulus applied for a first function and a second function;
- and
- for the second function:
- receiving a response signal of a user's ear to the acoustic stimulus;
- and
- extracting, from the response signal, one or more features for use in the biometric process;
- and
- combining the extracted one or more features with previously acquired ear canal response measurements to improve the accuracy of the biometric process,
- wherein the previously acquired ear canal response measurements are acquired by applying a second acoustic stimulus to the user's ear, the second acoustic stimulus applied for acquiring ear canal response measurements and for a third function;
- and
- wherein the first function and the third function are functions other than using the induced response signal in the biometric process.
An apparatus, comprising processing circuitry and a non-transitory machine-readable which, when executed by the processing circuitry, cause the apparatus to:
- apply a first acoustic stimulus to a user's ear, the first acoustic stimulus applied for a first function and a second function;
- and
- for the second function:
- receive a response signal of a user's ear to the acoustic stimulus;
- and
- extract, from the response signal, one or more features for use in a biometric process;
- and
- combine the extracted one or more features with previously acquired ear canal response measurements to improve the accuracy of the biometric process,
- wherein the previously acquired ear canal response measurements are acquired by applying a second acoustic stimulus to the user's ear, the second acoustic stimulus applied for acquiring ear canal response measurements and for a third function;
- and
- wherein the first function is a function other than to induce the response signal for use in the biometric process.
A non-transitory machine-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause an electronic apparatus to:
- apply a first acoustic stimulus to a user's ear, the first acoustic stimulus applied for a first function and a second function;
- for the second function, receive a response signal of a user's ear to the acoustic stimulus and extract, from the response signal, one or more features for use in a biometric process;
- and
- combine the extracted one or more features with previously acquired ear canal response measurements to improve the accuracy of the biometric process;
- wherein the previously acquired ear canal response measurements are acquired by applying a second acoustic stimulus to the user's ear, the second acoustic stimulus applied for acquiring ear canal response measurements and for a third function;
- and
- wherein the first function and the third function are functions other than using the induced response signal in the biometric process.
