Abstract
Offset illumination using multiple emitters in a fluorescence imaging system is described. A system includes an emitter for emitting pulses of electromagnetic radiation and an image sensor comprising a pixel array for sensing reflected electromagnetic radiation. The emitter comprises a first emitter and a second emitter for emitting different wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation. The system is such that at least a portion of the pulses of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the emitter comprises one or more of a hyperspectral emission, a fluorescence emission, and/or a laser mapping pattern.
Claims33
A system comprising:
- an emitter that emits a plurality of pulses of electromagnetic radiation, wherein the emitter comprises a plurality of electromagnetic sources comprising:
- a first emitter for emitting pulses of a first wavelength of electromagnetic radiation;
- and
- a second emitter for emitting pulses of a second wavelength of electromagnetic radiation;
- an image sensor comprising a pixel array for sensing reflected electromagnetic radiation;
- and
- a controller in electronic communication with the emitter and the image sensor;
- wherein at least a portion of the plurality of pulses of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the emitter comprises two or more of:
- a spectral emission comprising a wavelength of electromagnetic radiation that elicits a spectral response;
- a fluorescence emission comprising a fluorescence excitation wavelength of electromagnetic radiation;
- or
- a laser mapping emission comprising electromagnetic radiation in a laser mapping pattern;
- wherein the controller instructs the emitter to cycle the plurality of electromagnetic sources according to a variable pulse cycle comprising two or more of the spectral emission, the fluorescence emission, or the laser mapping emission;
- and
- wherein the controller adjusts the variable pulse cycle based on one or more of a user input or exposure of a scene.
