A liquid crystal alignment agent comprising a copolymer including a structure represented by a chemical formula (1) below and a solvent,

• wherein X is any one of structures represented by chemical formulas (X-1-1) to (X-1-9) below, or any one of structures represented by chemical formulas (X-2-1) to (X-2-4) below,
• Y1 is any one of structures represented by chemical formulas (Y-1-1) to (Y-1-16) below, or any one of structures represented by chemical formulas (Y-2-1) to (Y-2-10) below,
• Z1 and Z2 are the same or different, and represent an —NH— group, an —O— group, or a —S— group,
• R1 represents a photoreactive functional group, and
• p1 represents a repeat number and is an integer of 1 or more,
• wherein the copolymer is represented by a chemical formula (2) below,
• where wherein X is any one of the structures represented by the chemical formulas (X-1-1) to (X-1-9) or any one of the structures represented by the chemical formulas (X-2-1) to (X-2-4),
