Claims17
A medical device for delivering a therapeutic agent to a tissue, the device having a coating layer applied to a surface of the device, the coating layer consisting of components i), ii) and iii), wherein
- component i) is a therapeutic agent which is paclitaxel;
- and
- component ii) is ethyl urea or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
- and
- component iii) is succinic acid, glutaric acid, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of either one thereof.
A composition consisting of a mixture of components i), ii) and iii), wherein:
- component i) is paclitaxel;
- and
- component ii) is ethyl urea or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
- and
- component iii) succinic acid, glutaric acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of either one thereof.
A process for preparing a coating layer on a surface of a medical device which consists of the steps of:
- a) dissolving components i), ii) and iii) in one or more solvents to form one or more solutions, wherein
- component i) is a therapeutic agent which is paclitaxel;
- and
- component ii) is ethyl urea or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
- and
- component iii) is succinic acid or glutaric acid;
- and
- b) coating a surface of the device with each of the said one or more solutions of step a);
- and
- c) evaporating the solvent;
- or
- a process for preparing a coating layer on a surface of a medical device which consists of the steps of:
- a) dissolving components i), ii) and iii) in a solvent to form a solution, wherein component i) is a therapeutic agent which is paclitaxel;
- and
- component ii) is ethyl urea or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
- and
- component iii) is succinic acid or glutaric acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of either one thereof;
- and
- b) coating a surface of the device with the solution of step a);
- and
- c) evaporating the solvent.
