Abstract
Forceps can include an outer tube, a first jaw, a second jaw, and an inner tube. The outer tube can extend along a longitudinal axis and can include a pair of outer arms extending from a distal portion of the outer tube. The first jaw can be pivotably connected to the outer tube and the first jaw can include a first flange and a second flange each located at a proximal portion of the first jaw. The first flange and the second flange can each include a proximal portion extending outward of the outer tube when the jaws are in an open position. The proximal portions can be shaped to limit extension of the proximal portions laterally beyond the outer arms.
Claims21
A forceps comprising:
- an outer tube extending along a longitudinal axis, the outer tube including a pair of outer arms extending from a distal portion of the outer tube;
- a first jaw pivotably connected to the outer tube, the first jaw including a first flange and a second flange each located at a proximal portion of the first jaw, the first flange and the second flange each including a proximal portion extending outward of the outer tube when the jaws are in an open position, the proximal portions shaped to limit extension of the proximal portions laterally beyond the outer arms;
- a second jaw connected to the outer tube;
- and
- an inner tube located within the outer tube and extending along the longitudinal axis, the inner tube connected to the first flange and the second flange, the inner tube translatable along the outer tube to drive the first flange and the second flange to move the first jaw and the second jaw between the open position and a closed position.
A forceps comprising:
- an outer tube extending along a longitudinal axis, the outer tube including a pair of outer arms extending from a distal portion of the outer tube;
- a first jaw pivotably connected to the outer tube, the first jaw including a first flange and a second flange each located at a proximal portion of the first jaw, the first flange and the second flange each including a proximal portion extending outward of the outer tube when the jaws are in an open position, the proximal portions profiled to limit extension of the proximal portions laterally beyond the outer arms when the first jaw is in an open position;
- a second jaw connected to the outer tube;
- and
- an inner tube located within the outer tube and extending along the longitudinal axis, the inner tube connected to the first flange and the second flange, the inner tube translatable along the outer tube to drive the first flange and the second flange to move the first jaw and the second jaw between the open position and a closed position.
A forceps comprising:
- an outer tube extending along a longitudinal axis, the outer tube including a pair of outer arms extending from a distal portion of the outer tube;
- a first jaw pivotably connected to the outer tube, the first jaw including a first flange and a second flange each located at a proximal portion of the first jaw, the first flange and the second flange each including a proximal portion extending outward of the outer tube when the jaws are in an open position, the proximal portions radiused to limit extension of the proximal portions laterally beyond the arms when the first jaw is in an open position;
- a second jaw connected to the outer tube;
- and
- an inner tube located within the outer tube and extending along the longitudinal axis, the inner tube connected to the first flange and the second flange, the inner tube translatable along the outer tube to drive the first flange and the second flange to move the first jaw and the second jaw between the open position and a closed position.
