Abstract
A vessel monitoring service obtains transponder data of a vessel operating within a navigable area. In response to obtaining the transponder data of the vessel, the vessel monitoring service evaluates the transponder data and a plurality of travel segments recorded for a plurality of vessels to identify a travel segment to which the transponder data corresponds. The vessel monitoring service updates the travel segment using the transponder data and determine whether the vessel is engaged in an unauthorized activity. If so, the vessel monitoring service provides an indication that the vessel is engaged in the unauthorized activity.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- obtaining, from a vessel operating within a navigable area, transponder data for the vessel;
- evaluating the transponder data and a plurality of travel segments recorded for a plurality of vessels operating within the navigable area to identify a travel segment to which the transponder data corresponds, the travel segment representing a route through the navigable area;
- updating, using the transponder data, the travel segment to generate an updated travel segment;
- applying a machine learning model to the updated travel segment to calculate a determination that the vessel is engaged in an unauthorized activity within the navigable area, wherein the determination is based at least in part on a classification by the machine learning model of an input vector and a threshold value associated with the classification;
- and
- providing, based at least in part on the determination, an indication that the unauthorized activity is being performed by the vessel.
A system, comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- memory including executable instructions that, if executed by the one or more processors, cause the system to:
- obtain, from a vessel, data corresponding to a location of the vessel;
- evaluate the data and a plurality of travel segments recorded for a plurality of vessels to identify a travel segment to which the data corresponds;
- update, using the data, the travel segment to generate an updated travel segment;
- applying a machine learning model to the updated travel segment to determine, based on the updated travel segment, whether the vessel is engaged in an activity of a class of activities, wherein the determination is based at least in part on a classification by the machine learning model of an input vector and a threshold value associated with the classification;
- and
- in response to determining that the vessel is engaged in the activity, provide an indication that the vessel is engaged in the activity.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon executable instructions that, if executed by one or more processors of a computer system, cause the computer system to at least:
- update, using data obtained from a vessel and corresponding to a location of the vessel, a travel segment identified from a plurality of travel segments resulting in an updated travel segment;
- applying a machine learning model to the updated travel segment to determine, based on the updated travel segment, whether the vessel is engaged in an activity of interest, wherein the determination is based at least in part on a classification by the machine learning model of an input vector of and a threshold value associated with the classification;
- and
- in response to the determination that the vessel is engaged in the activity of interest, provide an indication that the vessel is engaged in the activity of interest.
