Systems and methods for reconfiguring buttons of a remote control device

An apparatus, comprising:

• one or more processors;
• a plurality of input interfaces in communication with the one or more processors;
• and
• memory storing processor executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
• receive a plurality of continuous inputs during a time interval, wherein the continuous inputs are caused by continuous press of a button on the remote control;
• in response to determining whether the plurality of continuous inputs relate to a first application running on a first device or a second application running on a second device, wherein the first application is distinct from the second application:
• map the plurality of continuous inputs that relate to the first application to a first repeat timer and the plurality of continuous inputs that relate to the second application to a second repeat timer, wherein the first repeat timer has a different rate of transmission than the second repeat timer and the different rates of transmission are based on characteristics of the first and the second application.
