The present disclosure is directed to methods for treating diseases for which cysteamine is indicated and compounds useful in such methods.

A compound having the following structure or a disulfide thereof:
- wherein R1 is C1-5alkyl;
- and
- R3, R4, R5, R7, and R8 are independently selected from the group consisting of H and C1-5 alkyl.
A compound having the following structure or a disulfide thereof:
- wherein R1, R3, R4, R5, R6, and R7 are independently selected from the group consisting of H and C1-5alkyl.
