Abstract
Methods and apparatus to identify additively manufactured parts are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a body, formed of layers layered substantially parallel to a base layer, composed of a first material having a first density, a first indicium embedded internally in the body as a void, and a second indicium on an external surface of the body, the second indicium aligning with the first indicium.
Claims22
An apparatus, comprising:
- a body formed via an additive manufacturing process, the body composed of a first material having a first density, the body including an external surface, the external surface defining a surface plane of the body;
- a first indicium formed via the additive manufacturing process, the first indicium embedded internally in the body and configured as a void, the first indicium located at an intersecting plane extending through the body, the intersecting plane spaced apart from and oriented parallel to the surface plane;
- and
- a second indicium located on the external surface of the body at the surface plane, the second indicium spaced apart from and linearly aligned with the first indicium along an axis of the body extending through the surface plane and the intersecting plane, the linear alignment between the first and second indicium enabling an identification of the apparatus.
