Abstract
Various embodiments of electric lighting devices and, in particular, electric candles are described. The devices can include a flame element onto which light can be projected from a light source. Preferably, the light is projected within a focal area on the flame element. The housing of the devices can include projections that help maintain a vertical position of a circuit board within the housing.
Claims20
An electric lighting device, comprising:
- an elongated casing comprising an opening,
- a pendulum positioned at a distance from a central axis of the elongated casing,
- wherein the pendulum comprises an upper portion having a flame shape extruding from the opening of the elongated casing, and
- wherein the pendulum further comprises a lower portion that is pivotally suspended within the elongated casing, the lower portion comprising a magnet;
- an electromagnet positioned below the magnet of the pendulum,
- wherein the electromagnet is configured to generate an electromagnetic field that interacts with the magnet to cause movement of the pendulum;
- a circuit board positioned below the electromagnet configured to control an operation of the electromagnet to drive the movement of the pendulum,
- wherein the circuit board has an elongated shape that fits within the elongated casing, and
- wherein the circuit board coupled to one or more indentations of the elongated casing to maintain a vertical position relative to the elongated casing;
- a light source positioned at an angle with respect to the pendulum within the elongated casing, wherein the light source is configured to emit light towards the upper portion of the pendulum,
- a lens positioned between the light source and the upper portion of the pendulum,
- wherein the lens is configured to direct the light from the light source to an area that is smaller than a surface area of the upper portion of the pendulum.

An electric lighting device, comprising:
- an elongated casing comprising an opening,
- a flame-shaped element positioned at a distance from a central axis of the elongated casing that is pivotally suspended within the elongated casing, wherein the flame-shaped element comprises a flame sheet extruding from the opening of the elongated casing, and
- a drive mechanism positioned below the flame-shaped element configured to cause movement of the flame-shaped element;
- a control module positioned below the flame-shaped element,
- wherein the control module is configured to control an operation of the drive mechanism to drive the movement of the pendulum,
- wherein the control module is coupled to one or more indentations of the elongated casing to maintain a vertical position relative to the elongated casing;
- a light source positioned at an angle with respect to the flame-shaped element within the elongated casing, wherein the light source is configured to emit light towards the flame-shaped element,
- a focusing component positioned between the light source and the flame-shaped element m configured to direct the light from the light source to an area that is smaller than a surface area of an upper portion of the flame-shaped element.
