Abstract
Generally, an extraction system useful in separating an extract from a matrix using one or more extractants. Specifically, an extractor including one or more of: an extraction vessel having an extractor vessel internal surface which defines an extraction chamber which communicates between open extraction vessel first and second ends, a first piston configured to sealably engage the extractor vessel internal surface of the extraction vessel first end or a second piston adapted to sealably engage the extractor vessel internal surface of the extraction vessel second end.

An extractor, comprising:
- an extraction vessel having an internal surface which defines an extraction chamber which communicates between open extraction vessel first and second ends;
- a first piston having a first piston sidewall joining a first piston first base opposite a first piston second base, said first piston sidewall adapted to slidingly sealably engage said internal surface of said extraction vessel first end;
- a second piston having a second piston sidewall joining a second piston first base opposite a second piston second base, said second piston sidewall adapted to slidingly sealably engage said internal surface of said extraction vessel second end;
- a first piston retaining member slidingly engaging said first piston first base of said first piston sealably engaged with said internal surface of said extraction vessel first end;
- a second piston retaining member slidingly engaging said second piston first base of said second piston sealably engaged with said internal surface of said extraction vessel first end;
- and
- an extraction vessel support including an extraction vessel rotation element, said extraction vessel rotatable about an extraction vessel support axis of said extraction vessel support to position a longitudinal axis of said extraction vessel in a generally horizontal orientation.
An extractor, comprising:
- an extraction vessel having an internal surface which defines an extraction chamber which communicates between open extraction vessel first and second ends;
- a first piston having a first piston sidewall joining a first piston first base opposite a first piston second base, said first piston sidewall adapted to slidingly sealably engage said internal surface of said extraction vessel first end;
- a second piston having a second piston sidewall joining a second piston first base opposite a second piston second base, said second piston sidewall adapted to slidingly sealably engage said internal surface of said extraction vessel second end;
- a first piston retaining member slidingly engaging said first piston first base of said first piston sealably engaged with said internal surface of said extraction vessel first end;
- a second piston retaining member slidingly engaging said second piston first base of said second piston sealably engaged with said internal surface of said extraction vessel first end;
- a second pressure receiving plate adjacently abuttingly engaging a first side of said second piston retaining member guide in which said second piston retaining member moves to engage and disengage said second piston;
- and
- a first and a second extraction vessel centering guide correspondingly coupled to said first and second end plate, said first and second extraction vessel centering guides each configured to engage a corresponding portion of the external surface of said extraction vessel proximate said extraction vessel first and second ends to align said internal surface of said extraction vessel first and second ends to correspondingly slidably receive said first and second pistons.
