Abstract
A method of making a mold, the mold having an interior cavity for containing a first material and a second material, wherein the mold comprises a first port configured to receive the first material, a second port configured to receive the second material, and a first channel for directing the second material to within the first material, the method includes: determining an electronic file having data representing a shape of an ear; processing the electronic file to create an electronic model of the mold, the electronic model of the mold having sprue features; and creating the mold based on the electronic model of the mold.
Claims20
A method of making a mold, the mold configured for containing a first material and a second material, the method comprising:
- obtaining an electronic file having data representing a shape of an ear;
- processing the electronic file to create an electronic model of the mold;
- and
- creating the mold based on the electronic model of the mold, wherein the created mold comprises a first port configured to receive at least some of the first material from a first source of the first material, wherein the first port is configured to deliver the at least some of the first material to a space inside the mold, and wherein the created mold comprises a second port configured to deliver at least some of the second material to the space inside the mold;
- wherein the created mold comprises a first mold part configured to define an outer surface of a wall of a hearing device, and a second mold part configured to define an inner surface of the wall of the hearing device;
- and
- wherein the space is between the first mold part and the second mold part, wherein the first port of the mold is configured to deliver the at least some of the first material to the space between the first mold part and the second mold part, and wherein the second port of the mold is configured to deliver the at least some of the second material to the space between the first mold part and the second mold part.
A method of making a mold, the mold configured for containing a first material and a second material, the method comprising:
- obtaining an electronic file having data representing a shape of an ear;
- processing the electronic file to create an electronic model of the mold;
- and
- creating the mold based on the electronic model of the mold, wherein the created mold comprises a first port configured to receive at least some of the first material from a first source of the first material, wherein the first port is configured to deliver the at least some of the first material to a space inside the mold, and wherein the created mold comprises a second port configured to deliver at least some of the second material to the space inside the mold;
- wherein the created mold comprises a first mold part configured to define an outer surface of a wall of a hearing device, and a second mold part configured to define an inner surface of the wall of the hearing device;
- and
- wherein the inner surface of the wall defined by the second mold part has a circumferential configuration defining a channel for the hearing device, and wherein the mold is configured to receive the at least some of the first material and the at least some of the second material to form a circumferential wall having the channel.
