Abstract
The present invention is a project management method, system and software product for aiding a user in attaining goals. The system has a goal field for describing a goal, a plurality of obstacle fields for describing a plurality of obstacles to be overcome in attaining the goal, and a plurality of strategy fields for describing a plurality of strategies for overcoming the plurality of obstacles to achieve a result correlated with the goal. Each obstacle field in the plurality of obstacle fields is linked to the goal field, has a unique associated strategy field in the plurality of strategy fields, and is linked with the unique associated strategy field.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method comprising:
- generating a strategy circle graphical user interface comprising a goal field, an obstacle field, and a strategy field, the obstacle field for describing a plurality of obstacles to be overcome in attaining a plurality of goals, each obstacle in the obstacle field being linked to an achievement of the goal field, the plurality of goals including at least a personal goal and a professional goal;
- setting global default privileges by a system administrator, to allow a first user of a plurality of users to view or share data with a second user of the plurality of users;
- receiving user input from the first user of all the plurality of users, the user input comprising the plurality of goals for the goal field, the plurality of obstacles for the obstacle field, and a plurality of strategies for the strategy field, the plurality of strategies for overcoming the plurality of obstacles to achieve a result correlated with at least one of the plurality of goals, wherein each strategy of the plurality of strategies is a unique associated strategy for at least one obstacle in the obstacle field;
- synchronizing a local user database with a remote master database stored on a server, the local user database including the user input regarding the goal field, the obstacle field, and the strategy field, timing of the synchronization being set based on the user input from at least the first user of the plurality of users as to how often the local user database will be synchronized with the remote master database, to ensure that the data of the plurality of users is reconciled with the remote master database to keep the remote master database current;
- updating the strategy circle graphical user interface to reflect the first user's data about the plurality of goals, the plurality of obstacles and the plurality of strategies, based on the data provided by the synchronized local user database and the remote master database;
- upon receiving both a first selection by the first user of a privileges icon that is associated with granting access privileges to selected portions of the first user's data in the strategy circle graphical user interface, and a second selection, by the first user, of the second user, providing the access privileges, regarding the selected portions of the first user's data, to the second user;
- and
- upon receiving a third selection by the first user of a confidential indicator to designate a portion of the first user's data as confidential, restricting the second user's access to the confidential portion of the first user's data.
A computer-implemented method comprising:
- providing a strategy circle interface having:
- (i) a goal field for a user to describe a plurality of goals,
- (ii) an obstacle field for the user to describe a plurality of obstacles to be overcome in attaining at least one of the plurality of goals, each obstacle in the obstacle field being linked to an achievement of at least one goal in the goal field, and
- (iii) a strategy field for the user to describe a plurality of strategies for overcoming at least one of the plurality of obstacles, wherein each strategy of the plurality of strategies is a unique strategy to overcome the at least one obstacle in the obstacle field and achieve a result correlated with the at least one of the plurality of goals;
- providing a strategy matrix interface having, for each strategy in the strategy field, an associated plurality of information fields for receiving data regarding the strategy described in the strategy field;
- providing an information transfer module associated with the strategy circle interface and the strategy matrix interface for transferring data entered into the strategy field of the strategy circle interface to the strategy matrix interface;
- setting global default privileges by a system administrator, to allow a first user of a plurality of users to view or share data in the strategy circle interface with a second user of the plurality of users;
- synchronizing user inputs to the strategy circle interface and the strategy matrix interface via a local computing device with a remote master database stored on a server, compiling data from the plurality of users based on user input from at least the first user of the plurality of users, via the local computing device, for setting how often a local user database associated with the local computing device will be synchronized with the remote master database;
- upon receiving both a first selection by the first user of a privileges icon that is associated with granting access privileges to selected portions of the first user's data in the strategy circle interface, and a second selection, by the first user, of the second user, providing the access privileges, regarding the selected portions of the first user's data, to the second user;
- and
- upon receiving a third selection by the first user of a confidential indicator to designate a portion of the first user's data as confidential, restricting the second user's access to the confidential portion of the first user's data.
A system comprising:
- a recording medium embodying the system;
- a strategy circle generation module recorded on the recording medium for generating a strategy circle interface for each user of a plurality of users, the strategy circle interface comprising:
- (i) a goal field for a user to describe a plurality of goals, the plurality of goals including at least a personal goal and a professional goal,
- (ii) an obstacle field for a user to describe a plurality of obstacles to overcome in attaining the plurality of goals, each obstacle in the obstacle field being linked to an achievement of at least one goal in the goal field, and
- (iii) a strategy field for a user to describe a plurality of strategies for overcoming the plurality of obstacles, wherein each strategy of the plurality of strategies is a unique strategy to overcome at least one obstacle in the obstacle field and achieve a result correlated with at least one of the plurality of goals;
- a strategy matrix generation module recorded on the recording medium for generating a strategy matrix interface for each user of the plurality of users, the strategy matrix interface having an information field for receiving data regarding at least one strategy described in the strategy field;
- an information transfer generation module recorded on the recording medium for generating an information transfer means for each user of the plurality of users, the information transfer means for populating data from the strategy field of the strategy circle interface into the strategy matrix interface;
- and
- a synchronization interface for synchronizing user inputs to the strategy circle interface and the strategy matrix interface via a local computing device with a remote master database stored on a server, compiling data from the plurality of users based on an user input from at least one of the plurality of users, via the local computing device, for:
- setting how often a local user database associated with the local computing device will be synchronized with the remote master database;
- setting global default privileges by a system administrator, to allow a first user of the plurality of users to view or share data with a second user of the plurality of users;
- upon receiving both a first selection by the first user of a privileges icon that is associated with granting access privileges to selected portions of the first user's data in the strategy circle interface, and a second selection, by the first user, of the second user, providing the access privileges, regarding the selected portions of the first user's data, to the second user;
- and
- upon receiving a third selection by the first user of a confidential indicator to designate a portion of the first user's data as confidential, restricting the second user's access to the confidential portion of the first user's data.
