Abstract
A method for establishing a wireless data link between at least two vehicles which are connected to one another via a physical data link includes transmitting link parameters of the wireless link via the physical data link connecting the at least two vehicles and establishing the wireless link using the link parameters transmitted via the physical data link connecting the at least two vehicles.
Claims9
A method for establishing a wireless data link between at least two vehicles which are connected to one another via a physical data link, wherein a first of the at least two vehicles is a towing vehicle comprising a first wireless communication unit and a second of the at least two vehicles is a trailer comprising a second wireless communication unit, the method comprising:
- transmitting, from the towing vehicle to the trailer, at least one of a plurality of link parameters of the wireless data link via the physical data link connecting the at least two vehicles, wherein the plurality of link parameters include a service set identifier (SSID), a password, an identification of the towing vehicle, and a network address and wherein the physical data link connecting the at least two vehicles is a Controller Area Network (CAN) link according to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 11992 or to ISO 11992 with ISO 11992-1:
- Interchange of digital information on electrical connections between towing and towed vehicles, Part 1:
- Physical and Data Link Layer, 2001-11-20, and;
- receiving from the trailer, via the physical data link, the Media Access Control (MAC) address of the second wireless communication unit;
- establishing the wireless link using the at least one link parameter transmitted via the physical data link connecting the at least two vehicles, wherein the at least one link parameter is transmitted as part of a first diagnostic message from Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) and the MAC address is transmitted as part of a second diagnostic message from UDS, and
- wherein the first and second diagnostic messages from UDS are configured according to according to ISO 14229 and ISO 15765 or to ISO 14229 UDS, Part 1:
- Specification and requirements, 2004-10-7, and ISO 15765 Diagnostics on CAN, Part 1:
- General information, 2003-04-20.
