Abstract
A system includes a software-defined wide area network having a software-defined wide area network control plane and a software-defined wide area network user plane; wherein the wide area network control plane is configured to operate in a first network and the wide area network user plane is configured to operate in a second network and further configured to communicate with the wide area network control plane, a serving gateway user plane in communication with the software-defined wide area network user plane, wherein the serving gateway user plane is configured to operate in the second network and further configured to communicate wirelessly with a device, and wherein the wide area network user plane is configured to route a communication between the device and a destination.
Claims20
A system comprising:
- a user plane of a software-defined wide area network (U-SDWAN) gateway deployed in a first network and wherein the U-SDWAN gateway is configured to be managed by a control plane of a software-defined wide area network orchestrator deployed in a 5G core network;
- a user plane of a serving gateway (U-SGW) deployed in the first network and wherein the U-SGW is in communication with the U-SDWAN gateway;
- and
- a user plane of a packet data network gateway (U-PGW) deployed in the first network and wherein the U-PGW is in communication with the U-SDWAN gateway and the U-SGW.
A method comprising:
- instantiating a software-defined wide area network user plane comprising a user plane of a software-defined wide area network (U-SDWAN), a user plane of a software-defined serving gateway (U-SGW), and a user plane of a software-defined packet gateway (U-PGW) in a first network and wherein the software-defined wide area network user plane is managed by a control plane of the software-defined wide area network deployed in a 5G core network;
- wirelessly attaching a device to the software-defined wide area network user plane;
- instantiating one or more virtual network functions in the software-defined wide area network user plane;
- forwarding data packets from the U-SGW to the one or more virtual network functions;
- and
- routing the data packets to a destination.
An apparatus comprising:
- an input-output interface;
- a processor coupled to the input-output interface wherein the processor is further coupled to a memory, the memory having stored thereon executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to effectuate operations comprising:
- instantiating a software-defined wide area network user plane comprising a user plane of a software-defined wide area network (U-SDWAN), a user plane of a software-defined serving gateway (U-SGW), and a user plane of a software-defined packet gateway (U-PGW) in a first network and wherein the software-defined wide area network user plane is managed by a control plane of the software-defined wide area network deployed in a 5G core network;
- wirelessly attaching a device to the software-defined wide area network user plane;
- instantiating one or more virtual network functions in the software-defined wide area network user plane;
- forwarding data packets from the U-SGW to the one or more virtual network functions;
- and
- routing the data packets to a destination.
