Abstract
A reference architecture is described for supporting multi-link aggregation (MLA) operation. A MLA muxer logical layer is provided, which provides a synchronization function to synchronize data transmission over two or more subordinate air interfaces belonging to an aggregated link.
Claims20
An apparatus for wireless communications comprising:
- a network interface supporting a plurality of air interfaces for wireless communication with at least one network entity;
- and
- a processor coupled to the network interface, the processor being configured to execute instructions to:
- implement a multi-link aggregation (MLA) multiplexer (muxer) as a logical layer, the MLA muxer providing at least a synchronization function to synchronize data transmission to the at least one network entity, the transmission being conducted over two or more subordinate air interfaces belonging to an aggregated link;
- wherein the synchronization function includes:
- obtaining information from each of the two or more subordinate air interfaces about a duration of a respective contention window;
- and
- configuring each of the two or more subordinate air interfaces to use a new contention window that is a maximum of the respective contention windows.

A method for wireless communications, the method comprising:
- implementing a multi-link aggregation (MLA) multiplexer (muxer) as a logical layer, the MLA muxer providing at least a synchronization function to synchronize data transmission to at least one network entity, the transmission being conducted over two or more subordinate air interfaces belonging to an aggregated link;
- wherein the synchronization function includes:
- obtaining information from each of the two or more subordinate air interfaces about a duration of a respective contention window;
- and
- configuring each of the two or more subordinate air interfaces to use a new contention window that is a maximum of the respective contention windows.
2 more elements
A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions encoded thereon, wherein the instructions, when executed by a processor of an apparatus, cause the apparatus to:
- implement a multi-link aggregation (MLA) multiplexer (muxer) as a logical layer, the MLA muxer providing at least a synchronization function to synchronize data transmission to at least one network entity, the transmission being conducted over two or more subordinate air interfaces belonging to an aggregated link;
- wherein the synchronization function includes:
- obtaining information from each of the two or more subordinate air interfaces about a duration of a respective contention window;
- and
- configuring each of the two or more subordinate air interfaces to use a new contention window that is a maximum of the respective contention windows.
