Abstract
A system includes a processor configured to determine a navigation instruction execution location within a predefined distance from a vehicle location. The processor is also configured to communicate with a wireless transceiver to receive information identifying an intervening turn-option location, between the execution location and vehicle location. The processor is further configured to determine a distance between the vehicle location and turn-option location and display the determined distance on a navigation display, until the vehicle passes the turn-option location.
Claims20
A system comprising:
- a processor, of a vehicle, configured to:
- receive a plurality of data sets, from infrastructure-based transmitters, each set including data about fixed elements that is relevant to navigation guidance, including at least fixed locations of the transmitters;
- determine the relevance of a given data set to navigation guidance along a current route based on predefined parameters;
- disregard data determined to be irrelevant to navigation guidance along the current route;
- and
- utilize non-disregarded data to enhance a navigation display by displaying navigation-guidance-related information indicated by the non-disregarded data on a navigation display including at least enhanced turn instructions displaying a plurality of transmitter locations including transmitter locations, identifiers and distances thereto, before, at and after a turn included in the current route.
A method comprising:
- receiving a plurality of data sets, at a vehicle, from infrastructure-based transmitters, each set including data about fixed elements that is relevant to navigation guidance, including at least fixed locations of the transmitters;
- determining the relevance of a given data set to navigation guidance along a current route based on predefined parameters;
- disregarding data determined to be irrelevant to navigation guidance along the current route;
- and
- utilizing non-disregarded data to enhance a navigation display by displaying navigation-related information indicated by the non-disregarded data on a navigation display.
A non-transitory storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a vehicle processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising:
- receiving a plurality of data sets from infrastructure-based transmitters, each set including data about fixed elements that is relevant to navigation guidance, including at least fixed locations of the transmitters;
- determining the relevance of a given data set to navigation guidance along a current route based on predefined parameters;
- disregarding data determined to be irrelevant to navigation guidance along the current route;
- and
- utilizing non-disregarded data to enhance a navigation display by displaying navigation-related information indicated by the non-disregarded data on a navigation display.
