Singulation conveyor system with rollers of different roller cross-sectional profiles

A singulation system comprising:

• a singulation conveyor comprising a first roller of a first roller cross-sectional profile and a second roller of a second roller cross-sectional profile different from the first roller cross-sectional profile;
• a control unit communicatively coupled to the singulation conveyor, the control unit configured to:
• identify a first item positioned on the singulation conveyor wherein the first item overlaps a second item;
• and
• cause to rotate at least one of, the first roller and the second roller, based on a pre-defined rotation pattern to singulate the first item from the second item.

A method of de-shingling an item comprising:

• identifying, an overlapping of a first item and a second item on a conveyor;
• and
• selectively rotating a plurality of rollers of the conveyor based on a pre-defined rotational pattern associated with at least one of:
• a speed or a time of rotation of the plurality of rollers, wherein the plurality of rollers comprises at least, a first roller of a first roller cross-sectional profile and a second roller of a second roller cross-sectional profile different than the first rotational profile.
