## Abstract

An eyeglass headphone with a frame that is constructed and arranged to be carried by the head of a wearer, the frame comprising a bridge that is adapted to be supported by the wearer's nose, and a left temple and a right temple that extend rearwardly from the bridge, toward the left and right ears of the wearer, respectively, and a dipole loudspeaker built into the frame, where the dipole loudspeaker comprises a driver that emits front-side acoustic radiation from its front side, and emits rear-side acoustic radiation from its rear side. The frame comprises at least first and second sound-emitting openings, wherein the first sound-emitting opening is constructed and arranged to emit front-side acoustic radiation and the second sound-emitting opening is constructed and arranged to emit rear-side acoustic radiation.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An audio system that is configured to be carried by an eyeglass frame that is configured to be worn on the head of a wearer, the frame comprising a bridge that is configured to be supported by the wearer's nose, and a left temple piece and a right temple piece that each extend rearwardly from the bridge toward the left and right ears of the wearer, respectively, the system comprising:
a cavity in a temple piece of the frame;
a loudspeaker located in the cavity and configured to generate sound in the cavity; and
a first sound-emitting opening in the temple piece of the frame that includes the cavity, wherein the sound-emitting opening is in fluid. communication with the cavity to allow sound to be emitted from the cavity into an environment external to the frame,
wherein a location of the sound-emitting opening relative to an ear canal opening of a user is adjustable by the user.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The audio system of claim 1, further comprising a housing that is integrated into a temple piece of the eyeglass frame.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The audio system of claim 1, wherein the left temple piece and the right temple piece of the eyeglass frame each have a distal end spaced from the bridge, and wherein a location of the first sound-emitting opening relative to the distal end of a temple piece is variable.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The audio system of claim 1, wherein the loudspeaker comprises an audio driver that emits front-side acoustic radiation from its front side and into a front portion of the cavity and emits rear-side acoustic radiation from its rear side into a rear portion of the cavity.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The audio system of claim 4, wherein the front portion of the cavity is fully defined by the front side of the driver, a first wall of the cavity located directly opposite the front side of the driver, and a second wall of the cavity that extends around the driver.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The audio system of claim 5, wherein the first sound-emitting opening is in the second wall of the cavity and is configured to emit front-side acoustic radiation directly from the front cavity into the environment.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The audio system of claim 6, further comprising a second sound- emitting opening that is configured to emit rear-side acoustic radiation from the cavity.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The audio system of claim 1, further comprising electronic circuitry that is arranged to wirelessly transmit or receive audio signals that are played by the loudspeaker.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The audio system of claim 8, wherein the electronic circuitry comprises an antenna.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The audio system of claim 1, further comprising a microphone.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The audio system of claim 1, wherein the cavity is in a housing that defines the first sound-emitting openings and a second sound-emitting opening.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The audio system of claim 11, wherein the loudspeaker comprises an audio driver that emits front-side acoustic radiation from its front side and rear-side acoustic radiation from its rear side, and wherein front-side acoustic radiation is emitted into the environment from the first sound-emitting opening and rear-side acoustic radiation is emitted into the environment from the second sound-emitting opening.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The audio system of claim 1, wherein the cavity is in a housing that is configured to be removably coupled to a temple piece of the eyeglass frame.

### Claim 14

An audio system that is configured to be carried by an eyeglass frame that is configured to be worn on the head of a wearer, the frame comprising a bridge that is configured to be supported by the wearer's nose, and a left temple piece and a right temple piece that each extend rearwardly from the bridge toward the left and right ears of the wearer, respectively, and each have a distal end spaced from the bridge, the system comprising:
a housing that is integrated into a temple piece and that defines a sound-emitting opening, wherein a location of the sound-emitting opening relative to the distal end of a temple piece of the eyeglass frame is variable; and
a loudspeaker located in the housing and configured to generate sound that leaves the housing through the sound-emitting opening.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The audio system of claim 14, wherein the audio system is integrated into a temple piece of the eyeglass frame.

### Claim 16 (depends on 14)

The audio system of claim 14, configured such that a user can locate the sound-emitting opening relative to the user's ear canal opening.
