Ergonomic EZ scope digital imaging system

A method of viewing and imaging a surgical field, comprising the steps of:

• (a) placing a mobile digital imaging system adjacent said surgical field, said mobile digital imaging system comprising:
• i. a portable computer including a digital imaging module, a display screen, a digital camera, and a module arm, wherein the digital imaging module is programmed to communicate with the digital camera, which is pivotally mounted on opposite ends of the module arm;
• ii a counterbalanced arm supporting said module arm for positioning said module arm adjacent said surgical field;
• iii. a vertical post upon which said counterbalanced arm is mounted, the vertical post extending up from a movable base with a wheel/caster assembly for providing portability of said imaging system;
• iv. wherein said digital camera having a lens portion surrounded by a ring light with a diffuser for lighting up a surgical field;
• v. wherein said digital camera having over-molded touch points for a user to position said camera;
• vi. wherein said imaging module displaying said surgical field on said display screen of said computer;
• vii. means for keeping displayed images in a full focus even when said camera is moved toward or away from said surgical field;
• (b) positioning said module arm adjacent said surgical field, and focusing said lens portion, and directing diffused light, on the surgical field;
• (c) moving said module arm further away from said surgical field, while said software maintains focus of said surgical field;
• and
• (d) with said camera at a predetermined distance from said surgical field, digitally zooming into a picture of said surgical field with magnification for viewing on said digital imaging module.

A method of viewing and imaging a surgical field, comprising the steps of:

• (a) placing a mobile digital imaging system adjacent said surgical field, said mobile digital imaging system comprising:
• i. a portable computer including a digital imaging module, a display screen, a digital camera, and a module arm, wherein the digital imaging module is programmed to communicate with the digital camera, which is pivotally mounted on opposite ends of the module arm;
• ii a counterbalanced arm supporting said module arm for positioning said module arm adjacent said surgical field;
• iii. a vertical post upon which said counterbalanced arm is mounted, the vertical post extending up from a base wherein said base is a mount to a surface;
• iv. wherein said digital camera having a lens portion surrounded by a ring light with a diffuser for lighting up a surgical field;
• v. wherein said digital camera having over-molded touch points for a user to position said camera;
• vi. wherein said imaging module displaying said surgical field on said display screen of said computer;
• vii. means for keeping displayed images in a full focus even when said camera is moved toward or away from said surgical field;
• (b) positioning said module arm adjacent said surgical field, and focusing said lens portion, and directing diffused light, on the surgical field;
• (c) moving said module arm further away from said surgical field, while said software maintains focus of said surgical field;
• and
• (d) with said camera at a predetermined distance from said surgical field, digitally zooming into a picture of said surgical field with magnification for viewing on said digital imaging module.

A method of viewing and imaging a surgical field, comprising the steps of:

• (a) placing a mobile digital imaging system adjacent said surgical field, said mobile digital imaging system comprising:
• i. a portable computer including a digital imaging module, a display screen, a digital camera, and a module arm, wherein the digital imaging module is programmed to communicate with the digital camera, which is pivotally mounted on opposite ends of the module arm;
• ii a counterbalanced arm supporting said module arm for positioning said module arm adjacent said surgical field;
• iii. a vertical post upon which said counterbalanced arm is mounted, the vertical post extending up from a base;
• iv. wherein said digital camera having a lens portion surrounded by a ring light with a diffuser for lighting up a surgical field, wherein said digital camera produces an image which can be zoomed to a magnification of 40× while the image stays in focus during magnification process and also during movement of the digital display monitor away from a first position to a more distant position, farther away from the eyes of the user;
• v. wherein said digital camera having over-molded touch points for a user to position said camera;
• vi. wherein said imaging module displaying said surgical field on said display screen of said computer;
• vii. means for keeping displayed images in a full focus even when said camera is moved toward or away from said surgical field;
• (b) positioning said module arm adjacent said surgical field, and focusing said lens portion, and directing diffused light, on the surgical field;
• (c) moving said module arm further away from said surgical field, while said software maintains focus of said surgical field;
• and
• (d) with said camera at a predetermined distance from said surgical field, digitally zooming into a picture of said surgical field with magnification for viewing on said digital imaging module.

A method for a dental practitioner conducting a dental procedure comprising the steps of:

• placing a mobile digital imaging system including a digital camera adjacent a surgical field inside the mouth of a patient for viewing and displaying said surgical field on a screen;
• said dental practitioner positioning himself or herself behind said patient, said screen being positioned so that said dental practitioner can view said surgical field;
• said screen being mounted directly with rotate/tilt/pivot features on and above said digital camera;
• and
• said dental practitioner using his or her hands for conducting said dental procedure relying on images on said screen of said digital imaging module, whereby said dental practitioner is isolated from direct contact with breath aerosol of the patient being treated;
• said screen of said imaging module replacing a standard microscope with binoculars for viewing images, thereby freeing the dental practitioner from using his or her hands to manipulate images seen through the binoculars of the microscope, whereby the dental practitioner can use his or her hands for other dental surgical tasks, from a position away from the exhaled breath of the patient being treated.

A method for a dental practitioner viewing and imaging a surgical field inside the mouth of a patient, comprising the steps of:

• (a) placing a mobile digital imaging system adjacent said surgical field, said mobile digital imaging system comprising:
• i. a portable computer including a digital imaging module, a display screen, a digital camera, and a module arm, wherein the digital imaging module is programmed to communicate with the digital camera, which is pivotally mounted on opposite ends of the module arm;
• ii a counterbalanced arm supporting said module arm for positioning said module arm adjacent said surgical field;
• iii. a vertical post upon which said counterbalanced arm is mounted, the vertical post extending up from a base;
• iv. wherein said digital camera having a lens portion surrounded by a ring light with a diffuser for lighting up a surgical field;
• v. wherein said digital camera having over-molded touch points for a user to position said camera;
• vi. wherein said imaging module displaying said surgical field on said display screen of said computer;
• vii. means for keeping displayed images in a full focus even when said camera is moved toward or away from said surgical field;
• (b) positioning said module arm adjacent said surgical field, and focusing said lens portion, and directing diffused light, on the surgical field;
• (c) moving said module arm further away from said surgical field, while said software maintains focus of said surgical field;
• (d) with said camera at a predetermined distance from said surgical field, digitally zooming into a picture of said surgical field with magnification for viewing on said digital imaging module, wherein said digital camera produces an image which can be zoomed to a magnification of 40× while the image stays in focus during magnification process and also during movement of the digital display monitor away from a first position to a more distant position, farther away from the eyes of said dental practitioner;
• and
• (e) said dental practitioner positioning himself or herself behind said patient, for isolating said dental practitioner from direct contact with breath aerosol of the patient being treated, said screen being positioned to be viewed by said dental practitioner.
