Abstract
Disclosed herein is an electrically conductive adhesive composition, articles comprising at least two components adhesively bonded by the electrically conductive adhesive composition and methods of making such adhesives and articles. The electrically conductive adhesive composition includes milled carbon fibers dispersed in a thermosetting resin and a curative agent.
Claims34
An article comprising at least two components, where a portion of a first component is adhesively bonded to a portion of a second component using an electrically conductive adhesive composition comprising:
- 21-50 weight % of milled carbon fibers dispersed in a thermosetting resin, wherein the amount in weight % is based on the total weight of the electrically conductive adhesive composition;
- and
- a curative agent,
- wherein the article is a spar cap and wherein the two components forms a chamfer region.
A spar cap comprising a plurality of fiber-reinforced resin composite sheets adhesively bonded to each other using an adhesive composition comprising:
- 21-50 weight % of milled carbon fibers dispersed in a thermosetting resin, wherein the amount in weight % is based on the total weight of the electrically conductive adhesive composition;
- and
- a curative agent,
- wherein each fiber-reinforced resin composite sheet comprises 50 to 80% by volume of carbon fibers fused with a binder resin, wherein the amount in % by volume is based on the total volume of the fiber-reinforced resin composite sheet.
