Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for preparing a poly(meth)acrylic acid, characterized in that a (meth)acrylic acid-containing process stream from (meth)acrolein synthesis is subjected to free-radical polymerization. The invention also relates to the esterification of the polymer obtained to give a homopolymer or copolymer ester, and to the use thereof as additive, flow improver and water reducer.
Claims12
A process for preparing a poly(meth)acrylic acid, the process comprising:
- subjecting a process stream from (meth)acrolein synthesis containing between 8 and 50% by weight of (meth)acrylic acid, based on a total weight of the process stream, to free-radical polymerization in the presence of water formed in an oxidation reaction of the (meth)acrolein synthesis, thereby obtaining the poly(meth)acrylic acid.
