Cleaning method for prepless colonoscopy

A method of limited evacuation of fecal matter content from a colon, comprising:

• advancing a fluid outlet of an irrigation system to a distal segment of said colon containing said fecal matter;
• introducing fluid to the distal segment through the fluid outlet;
• evacuating said introduced fluid from said colon via an intake aperture of an evacuation lumen;
• monitoring the fecal matter content mixed into said evacuated fluid;
• and
• reducing said introducing based on a reduction in said monitored mixed fecal matter content;
• performing colonoscopic examination of the distal segment;
• and
• withdrawing the fluid outlet of the irrigation system and the intake aperture of the evacuation lumen from the distal segment;
• wherein, after the fluid delivery conduit and intake aperture of the evacuation lumen are withdrawn, and the colonoscopic examination completed, at least 2% of the original distal segment fecal content remains within said distal segment;
• wherein the remaining at least 2% of the original colon distal segment fecal content is fecal content which is shunted from pre-shunted positions within the distal segment to shunted positions within the distal segment by at least one of the introducing fluid and the evacuating;
• and,
• wherein the colonoscopic examination includes examination of both colon tissue obscured by fecal content in the pre-shunted positions, and examination of colon tissue obscured by fecal content in the shunted positions.
