Abstract
The present invention provides methods of treating or preventing Alport syndrome in a patients in need thereof using bardoxolone methyl or analogs thereof, and/or improving the kidney function of patients who have been diagnosed with Alport syndrome.

A method for preventing or delaying progression of Alport syndrome or a symptom thereof in a patient in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of the formula:

A method for increasing a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in a patient having Alport syndrome, the method comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of the formula:
