Abstract
A vertebral insert may include a first linkage, a second linkage, and a third linkage. The first, second, and third linkages may at least partially defining a cavity. The insert may be movable between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration, and the movement of the first and second linkages with respect to one another may be configured to reciprocally move the insert between the collapsed and expanded configurations.

A spacer assembly, comprising:
- a plate assembly including a first plate and a second plate, wherein the first plate includes a first throughbore and the second plate includes a second throughbore, and wherein the first plate and the second plate define a cavity in the plate assembly;
- a first fastener configured to be received by the first throughbore;
- a second fastener configured to be received by the second throughbore;
- a bracket configured to be coupled to the plate assembly;
- a spacer configured to engage the bracket and be received in the cavity,
- wherein the first plate is moveable with respect to the second plate to adjust a size of the cavity.

A method of fixating adjacent vertebral bodies, comprising:
- providing a spacer assembly, wherein the spacer assembly includes:
- a plate assembly including a first plate and a second plate, wherein the first plate includes a first throughbore and the second plate includes a second throughbore, and
- wherein the first plate and the second plate define a cavity in the plate assembly;
- a first fastener configured to be received by the first throughbore;
- a second fastener configured to be received by the second throughbore;
- a bracket configured to be coupled to the plate assembly;
- and
- a spacer configured to engage the bracket and be received in the cavity,
- installing the plate assembly across the adjacent vertebral bodies;
- fixating the plate assembly by inserting the first fastener into the first plate and the second fastener into the second plate;
- inserting the spacer into the cavity;
- fixating the bracket to the plate assembly and the spacer,
- wherein the first plate is moveable with respect to the second plate to adjust a size of the cavity.
