## Abstract

One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for facilitating the exchange of an item. For example, a containment component is configured to receive one or more items. A locking component is configured to selectively restrict or allow access to the item. A code generation component is configured to generate and provide an unlocking code to a requestor (e.g., based upon payment by the requestor that requests access to the item). A code entry component is configured to receive user input of a code. The code entry component either retains the locking component in a locked state if the code is not validated as the unlocking code or transitions the locking component into an unlocked state if the code is validated as the unlocking code.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method comprising:
receiving a request from a requestor for access to an item secured by a first containment component associated with a locking component;
facilitating a payment related to the request;
generating an unlocking code and supplying the unlocking code to the requestor in response to facilitating the payment;
receiving a user input of a code through a code entry component associated with the first containment component;
modifying the locking component into an unlocked state based upon the code corresponding to the unlocking code.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, comprising facilitating a delayed pickup of the item.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, comprising selecting a pickup time from a list of at least 3 pickup times.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, comprising obtaining a temperature measurement using a temperature sensor associated with the first containment component.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, comprising providing a notification of when the item is ready for pickup.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, comprising evaluating sensor data to validate that the item has been placed in the first containment component.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein at least a second containment component is located adjacent the first containment component, and wherein the method comprises providing an identifier from a set of identifiers for at least the first containment component.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein location specific instructions are provided for at least the first containment component.

### Claim 9

A method of facilitating a transactional exchange comprising:
receiving a request, from a first party via a product listing interface, to hold an item for a hold duration, wherein the hold corresponds to an exclusive right for the first party to subsequently purchase access to the item not yet purchased by the first party;
selectively restricting access to the item from parties other than the first party based upon the hold until the hold duration has expired; and
facilitating inspection of the item before the purchase is completed.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, comprising sending a private location of the item to the first party.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, comprising displaying one or more hold durations and receiving a selection of the hold duration from the one or more hold durations.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein the hold duration corresponds to an inspection time.

### Claim 13 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, comprising facilitating a payment.

### Claim 14 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, comprising suggesting a transportation provider.

### Claim 15 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, comprising facilitating pickup by a transportation provider.

### Claim 16 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, comprising generating a waiting list for the item.

### Claim 17

A method for facilitating a transactional exchange comprising:
receiving a request from a first party to access an item secured by a containment component associated with a locking component that is portable;
facilitating a payment;
generating an unlocking code and supplying the unlocking code to the first party based upon facilitating the payment;
receiving a user input of a code through a code entry component associated with the containment component; and
modifying the locking component into an unlocked state based upon the code corresponding to the unlocking code.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The method of claim 17, wherein the locking component comprises a primary means of attachment and a secondary means of attachment, the secondary means of attachment keeping the locking component secured to a fixed attachment point when access is provided to the item, wherein the secondary means of attachment is selectively removable.

### Claim 19 (depends on 17)

The method of claim 17, comprising facilitating inspection or pickup by a second party.

### Claim 20 (depends on 17)

The method of claim 17, comprising processing a hold request, received before the request for access is received, to hold the item for a hold duration, wherein the hold corresponds to an exclusive right for a requestor of the hold request to subsequently purchase access to the item not yet purchased by the requestor.
