## Abstract

A lens element worn in front of an eye of a person includes a refraction area having a first refractive power based on a prescription for correcting an abnormal refraction of the eye of the person and a second refractive power different from the first refractive power and a plurality of at least three optical elements, at least one optical element having an optical function of not focusing an image on the retina of the eye so as to slow down the progression of the abnormal refraction of the eye.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for treatment using a lens comprising:
obtaining a first refractive power corresponding to a prescription for correcting an abnormal refraction of an eye of a person; and
applying the lens having the first refractive power in a first portion and a second refractive power, different from the first refractive power, in a second portion in front of the eye of the person, wherein the second portion includes a plurality of optical elements which defocus an image such that the image is not focused on a retina of the eye, and
wherein a mean sphere of the plurality of optical elements varies from an optical center towards a peripheral part of the lens,
wherein the mean sphere is defined as
SPH

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the mean sphere of the plurality of optical elements varies from a first point of an at least one section towards the peripheral part of the at least one section by decreasing from the first point of the at least one section towards the peripheral part of the at least one section.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the mean sphere of the plurality of optical elements varies from a first point of an at least one section towards the peripheral part of the at least one section by increasing from the first point of the at least one section towards the peripheral part of the at least one section.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the mean sphere of the plurality of optical elements varies by increasing from a first point of an at least one section towards the peripheral part of the at least one section and by decreasing from a second point of the at least one section towards the peripheral part of the at least one section, the second point being closer to the peripheral part of the at least one section than the first point.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the plurality of optical elements are microlenses.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the second refractive power is greater than the first refractive power.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of optical elements are configured such that along the lens, the mean sphere of the plurality of optical elements increases from a first point towards the peripheral part of the lens by at least 0.5 D, and decreases from a second point towards the peripheral part of the lens by at least 0.5 D, the second point being closer to the peripheral part than the first point.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein a difference between the first refractive power and the second refractive power is greater than or equal to 0.5D.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of optical elements are non-contiguous.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of optical elements are arranged around a central zone having a diameter greater than or equal to 4 mm and smaller than or equal to 22 mm.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein at least one optical element of the plurality of optical elements has a continuous power evolution over a surface of the at least one optical element.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein at least one optical element of the plurality of optical elements has an asphericity between 0.1D and 3D.

### Claim 13

A method for treatment of myopia or presbyopia using a lens comprising:
obtaining a first refractive power corresponding to a prescription of a person; and
applying the lens having the first refractive power in a first portion and a second refractive power, different from the first refractive power, in a second portion in front of an eye of a wearer,
wherein the second portion includes at least one microlens that defocuses an image such that the image is not focused on a retina of the eye,
wherein the at least one microlens has an asphericity between 0.1D and 3D.
