Medical lubricant

A formulation for a lubricant comprising

• a base oil comprising a compound of the formula I
• wherein R1 is H, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkenyl, or C1-C6 alkynyl, wherein each hydrogen atom in C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkenyl, or C1-C6 alkynyl is independently optionally substituted with halo, hydroxy, amino, oxo, or OR3;
• R2 is C10-C25 alkyl, C10-C25 alkenyl, or C10-C25 alkynyl, and wherein each hydrogen atom in C10-C25 alkyl, C10-C25 alkenyl, or C10-C25 alkynyl is independently optionally substituted with halo, hydroxy, amino, oxo, or OR7;
• or a salt thereof;
• a phospholipid;
• or a salt thereof;
• and
• a salt of the formula
• M1(R8)(R9)(calcium stearate) (II)
• wherein M1 is a divalent cation, R9 and R8 are independently OC(O)C10-C25 alkyl, −OC(O)C10-C25 alkenyl, or—OC(O)C10-C25 alkynyl, and wherein each hydrogen atom in C10-C25 alkyl, C10-C25 alkenyl, or C10-C25 alkynyl is independently optionally substituted with halo, hydroxy, amino, oxo, or OR10,
• wherein each of R3, R7, and R10 is independently H, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkenyl, C1-C6 alkynyl, C10-C25 alkyl, C10-C25 alkenyl, C10-C25 alkynyl, —C(O)C1-C6 alkyl, —C(O)C1-C6 alkenyl, —C(O)C1-C6 alkynyl, —C(O)C10-C25 alkyl, —C(O)C10-C25 alkenyl, —C(O)C10-C25 alkynyl, wherein each hydrogen atom in C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkenyl, C1-C6 alkynyl, C10-C25 alkyl, C10-C25 alkenyl, C10-C25 alkynyl, —C(O)C1-C6 alkyl, —C(O)C1-C6 alkenyl, —C(O)C1-C6 alkynyl, —C(O)C10-C25 alkyl, —C(O)C10-C25 alkenyl, —C(O)C10-C25 alkynyl is independently optionally substituted with halo, hydroxy, or amino, and further comprising a biocompatible fragrance that is at least 6 wt % of the formulation, the fragrance comprising an essential oil, hexyl acetate fructone ethyl methylphenylglycidate, or combinations thereof, wherein at least the base oil is at least 40% by weight of the formulation.
