## Abstract

In one example embodiment, a computer-implemented method and system for immobilization of machines capable of moving are disclosed. The method for immobilization of machines capable of moving includes detecting an event by a tracking device; providing one or more rules to evaluate the detected event; evaluating the detected event using the one or more rules; and triggering an action type based on the outcome of the evaluation. The system for immobilization of machines capable of moving includes a machine capable of moving, a tracking device including at least one processor and logic, a starter relay and a fuel pump relay, wherein the tracking device detects an event; evaluates the detected event using one or more rules provided to evaluate the detected event; and triggers an action type based on the outcome of the evaluation.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A computer-implemented method for immobilization of a machine capable of moving, the method comprising:
detecting an event by a tracking device;
detecting movement of the machine;
providing one or more rules to evaluate the detected event and the movement of the machine; and
evaluating the detected event and the movement of the machine using the one or more rules; and
triggering an action type based on the outcome of the evaluation, wherein the action type comprises:
disabling fuel pump of the machine capable of moving if the machine is not moving,
disabling starter of the machine capable of moving if the machine is already in motion, and
disabling fuel pump and starter of the machine capable of moving even if the tracking device is reconnected.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the event comprises any one or more of: loss of power to the tracking device, restoration of power to the tracking device, loss of motion of the tracking device and failure of the tracking device.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the one or more rules for evaluating the detected event include at least one rule for verifying that the loss of power to the tracking device is due to removal of the tracking device using a feedback loop.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The computer-implemented method of claim 3, wherein the feedback loop comprises a cable harness.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the action type comprising disable the fuel pump of the machine capable of moving if the machine is not moving, disable the starter of the machine capable of moving if the machine is already in motion, and disable the fuel pump and the starter of the machine capable of moving even if the tracking device is reconnected, is not triggered if the tracking device is disconnected or when reconnected by an authorized entity.

### Claim 6

A system for immobilization of a machine capable of moving, the system comprising a machine capable of moving, a tracking device including at least one processor and logic, a starter relay and a fuel pump relay, wherein the tracking device
detects an event;
detects movement of the machine;
evaluates the detected event and the movement of the machine using one or more rules provided to evaluate the detected event and the movement of the machine; and
triggers an action type based on the outcome of the evaluation, wherein the action type comprises:
disabling fuel pump of the machine capable of moving if the machine is not moving,
disabling starter of the machine capable of moving if the machine is already in motion, and
disabling fuel pump and starter of the machine capable of moving even if the tracking device is reconnected.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The system of claim 6, wherein the event comprises any one or more of: detection of loss of power to the tracking device, detection of restoration of power to the tracking device, detection of loss of motion of the tracking device and detection of failure of the tracking device.

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

The system of claim 6, wherein the one or more rules for evaluating the detected event include at least one rule for verifying that the loss of power to the tracking device is due to removal of the tracking device using a feedback loop.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The system of claim 8, wherein the wherein the feedback loop comprises a cable harness.

### Claim 10 (depends on 6)

The system of claim 6, wherein the action type comprising interrupt fuel pump relay of the machine capable of moving if the machine is not moving, interrupt starter relay of the machine capable of moving if the machine is already in motion, and disable fuel pump and starter of the machine capable of moving even if the tracking device is reconnected, is not triggered if the tracking device is disconnected or when reconnected by an authorized entity.

### Claim 11

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having executable instructions stored therein that, when executed, cause one or more processors corresponding to a system comprising a tracking device to perform operations comprising:
detect an event by the tracking device;
detecting movement of the machine;
provide one or more rules to evaluate the detected event and the movement of the machine;
evaluate the detected event and the movement of the machine using the one or more rules; and
trigger an action type based on the outcome of the evaluation, wherein the action type comprises:
disabling fuel pump of the machine capable of moving if the machine is not moving,
disabling starter of the machine capable of moving if the machine is already in motion, and
disabling fuel pump and starter of the machine capable of moving even if the tracking device is reconnected.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11, wherein detecting an event comprises any one or more of: detection of loss of power to the tracking device, detection of restoration of power to the tracking device, detection of loss of motion of the tracking device and detection of failure of the tracking device.

### Claim 13 (depends on 11)

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11, wherein the one or more rules for evaluating the detected event include at least one rule for verifying that the loss of power to the tracking device is due to removal of the tracking device using a feedback loop.
