## Abstract

Methods and compositions for treating kidney injury are provided.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of treating acute kidney injury in a human, the method comprising administering to the human a sufficient amount of a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO:1, to reduce at least one symptom of the acute kidney injury.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO:1.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the amino acid sequence is linked to a protein sequence that extends the circulating half-life in the blood of the polypeptide.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the amino acid sequence is linked to an antibody Fc domain or human serum albumin.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The method of claim 4, wherein the amino acid sequence is linked to an antibody Fc domain that has been mutated to prolong the circulating half-life of polypeptide.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the polypeptide is PEGylated.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the polypeptide comprises at least one non-naturally-encoded amino acid.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the polypeptide is administered intravenously, orally, inhalationally, nasally, rectally, intraperitoneally, parenterally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, or transdermally.
