## Abstract

A footwear sole apparatus which has a base member and at least one insert (principal insert and/or heel insert) as well as one or more locking mechanisms, comprised of a configuration to fit or replace the sole or partial sole of a pair or pairs of footwear. The base member is either pre-attached to a new shoe(s) or fitted onto the sole of an existing shoe(s). The base member can be attached to the insert(s), having one or more locking mechanisms to enhance interconnectivity of the base member and insert(s).

## Claims

### Claim 1

A footwear sole apparatus, comprising:
a base member having a toe portion, a midfoot portion, and a heel portion; and
an insert extending from the toe portion to the midfoot portion and/or from the midfoot portion to the heel portion,
wherein the base member is configured to attach to the insert,
wherein the base member includes: a first rail protruding from the base member, the first rail including an edge that protrudes from the first rail, the first rail extending along a longitudinal axis of the base member and extending continuously from the toe portion to the midfoot portion and from the midfoot portion to the heel portion; and a locking mechanism provided on the midfoot portion of the base member, and
wherein the inserts include: a second rail extending continuously from the toe portion to the midfoot portion and/or from the heel portion to the midfoot portion, the second rail includes a groove along an outer edge of the second rail,
wherein the first rail of the base member is configured to slide into the second rail of the insert such that the edge of the first rail contacts the groove of the second rail, thereby allowing the insert to slide into the locking mechanism of the base member, and
wherein the locking mechanism is configured to connect the insert and the base member and comprises at least one stud, and the at least one stud extends entirely through a thickness of the insert.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 1, wherein the at least one stud extends up to three quarters of a thickness of the locking mechanism of the base member.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 1, wherein the insert comprises a principal insert configured to fit to the toe portion of the base member, and the at least one stud extends entirely through the thickness of the principal insert.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 3, wherein the insert comprises a heel insert configured to fit to the heel portion of the base member, wherein the locking mechanism is configured to reinforce a connection between the principal insert, the heel insert and the base member.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 4, wherein the at least one stud extends entirely through the thickness of the heel insert.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 5, wherein the at least one stud comprises a central stud, and the principal insert includes a central opening that is configured to securely receive the central stud of the base member.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 6, wherein the principal insert includes a plurality of subsidiary holes, and the at least one stud includes a corresponding number of subsidiary studs that are configured to fit securely into the plurality of the subsidiary holes.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 7, wherein the heel insert includes a central opening that is configured to securely receive the central stud of the base member.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 8, wherein the heel insert includes same number of subsidiary holes as that of the principal insert, and the corresponding number of subsidiary studs are configured to fit securely into the subsidiary holes of the heel insert.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 1, wherein the insert comprises a heel insert configured to fit to the heel portion of the base member.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 1, wherein the at least one stud comprises a central stud and 4 subsidiary studs, and the central stud and the 4 subsidiary studs all extend entirely through the thickness of the insert.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 1, wherein the insert comprises a principal insert configured to attach to the toe portion of the base member, and a heel insert configured to attached to the heel portion of the base member, and the at least one stud extends entirely through both the thickness of the principal insert and the thickness of the heel insert.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 12, wherein the at least one stud comprises a central stud and 4 subsidiary studs.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The footwear sole apparatus of claim 1, wherein the at least one stud is in a cylindrical shape.

### Claim 15
