Application based reconfiguring of remote control transmission rate behavior

A remote control device, comprising:

• one or more processors;
• a plurality of input interfaces in communication with the one or more processors;
• and memory storing processor executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the remote control device to:
• determine a first continuous press of a first input of a plurality of inputs;
• determine that the first continuous press is intended for a first application running on a first device;
• retrieve, from a memory of the remote control device, a first rate of transmission corresponding to the first input and based on characteristics of the first application running on the first device;
• send, based on the first rate of transmission, a plurality of first transmissions resulting from the first continuous press of the first input;
• determine a second continuous press of a second input of the plurality of inputs;
• determine that the second continuous press is intended for a second application running on a second device, wherein the first application is distinct from the second application;
• retrieve, from the memory of the remote control device, a second rate of transmission corresponding to the second input and based on characteristics of the second application of the second device, wherein the second rate of transmission is distinct from the first rate of transmission;
• and
• in response to determining that the first input and the second input correspond to pressing of a same button on a remote control device:
• send, based on the first rate of transmission, a plurality of first transmissions resulting from the first continuous press of the first input to the first device, and
• send, based on the second rate of transmission, a plurality of second transmissions resulting from the second continuous press of the second input to the second device that is distinct from the first device.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing processor executable instructions that, when executed by at least one remote control device, cause the at least one remote control device to:

• determine a first continuous press of a first input of a plurality of inputs;
• determine that the first continuous press is intended for a first application running on a first device;
• retrieve, from a memory of the remote control device, a first rate of transmission corresponding to the first input and based on characteristics of the first application running on the first device;
• send, based on the first rate of transmission, a plurality of first transmissions resulting from the first continuous press of the first input;
• determine a second continuous press of a second input of the plurality of inputs;
• determine that the second continuous press is intended for a second application running on a second device, wherein the first application is distinct from the second application;
• determine, based on the second input and based on characteristics of the second application of the second device, a second rate of transmission;
• and
• retrieve, from the memory of the remote control device, a second rate of transmission corresponding to the second input, wherein the second rate of transmission is distinct from the first rate of transmission;
• and
• in response to determining that the first input and the second input correspond to pressing of a same button on a remote control device:
• send, based on the first rate of transmission, a plurality of first transmissions resulting from the first continuous press of the first input to the first device, and
• send, based on the second rate of transmission, a plurality of second transmissions resulting from the second continuous press of the second input to the second device that is distinct from the first device.
