Abstract
Example aspects of a valve are disclosed. The valve can comprise a valve body defining a first end, a second end opposite the first end, an inner surface, and an outer surface, the inner surface defining a body bore extending from the first end to the second end and a channel extending radially outward from the body bore, the channel defining a seat retention groove; a metal barrier applied to the inner surface and covering the seat retention groove, the metal barrier defining a first edge and a second edge, the first edge oriented between the seat retention groove and the first end, and the second edge oriented between the seat retention groove and the second end; and a valve seat positioned within the channel.
Claims21
A valve comprising:
- a valve body defining a first end, a second end opposite the first end, an inner surface, and an outer surface, the inner surface defining a body bore extending from the first end to the second end and a channel extending radially outward from the body bore, the channel defining a seat retention groove;
- a metal barrier applied to the inner surface and covering the seat retention groove, the metal barrier defining a first edge and a second edge, the first edge oriented between the seat retention groove and the first end, and the second edge oriented between the seat retention groove and the second end;
- and
- a valve seat positioned within the channel.
A valve comprising:
- a valve body defining an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface defining a body bore extending through the valve body and a channel extending radially outward from the body bore, the channel defining a seat retention groove;
- a seating mechanism received within the channel and comprising a fastener, at least a portion of the fastener received within the seat retention groove;
- and
- a metal barrier applied to the inner surface and oriented between the seat retention groove and the fastener;
- wherein:
- the valve body defines a first end and a second end opposite the first end;
- the metal barrier covers the seat retention groove and defines a first edge and a second edge;
- the first edge is oriented between the seat retention groove and the first end of the valve body;
- and
- the second edge oriented between the seat retention groove and the second end of the valve body.
A valve comprising:
- a valve body defining an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface defining a body bore extending through the valve body and a channel extending radially outward from the body bore, the channel defining a seat retention groove;
- a seating mechanism received within the channel and comprising a fastener, at least a portion of the fastener received within the seat retention groove;
- and
- a metal barrier applied to the inner surface and oriented between the seat retention groove and the fastener;
- wherein the fastener comprises a head and a tail, the head received in the seat retention groove, the tail extending out of the seat retention groove, wherein the seat retention groove engages the head to prevent the fastener from rotating relative to the valve body;
- wherein the seating mechanism further comprises a segment substantially received within the channel and defining a fastener hole, the tail of the fastener engaging the fastener hole;
- and
- wherein the segment defines an outer side and an inner side opposite the outer side, the outer side defining the fastener hole, the inner side defining a convex portion.
A valve comprising:
- a valve body defining an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface defining a body bore extending through the valve body and a channel extending radially outward from the body bore, the channel defining a seat retention groove;
- a seating mechanism received within the channel and comprising a fastener, at least a portion of the fastener received within the seat retention groove;
- and
- a metal barrier applied to the inner surface and oriented between the seat retention groove and the fastener;
- wherein the fastener comprises a head and a tail, the head received in the seat retention groove, the tail extending out of the seat retention groove, wherein the seat retention groove engages the head to prevent the fastener from rotating relative to the valve body;
- wherein the seating mechanism further comprises a segment substantially received within the channel and defining a fastener hole, the tail of the fastener engaging the fastener hole;
- and
- wherein the fastener further comprises a nut disposed on the tail and abutting the segment, wherein rotating the nut in a first direction pushes the segment away from the seat retention groove.
