Claims12
A method for treating or preventing a microbial infection in a subject, the method comprising;
- administering to a subject in need thereof an agent that inhibits a peripheral neuron in an amount and for a duration sufficient to treat or prevent a microbial infection,
- wherein the microbial infection is a subcutaneous microbial infection, and
- wherein the agent is a botulinum neurotoxin selected from the group consisting of:
- botulinum neurotoxin serotype A, botulinum neurotoxin serotype B, botulinum neurotoxin serotype C, botulinum neurotoxin serotype D, botulinum neurotoxin serotype E, botulinum neurotoxin serotype F, and botulinum neurotoxin serotype G.
A method for treating or preventing a chronic microbial infection in a subject, the method comprising administering to a subject in need thereof an agent that inhibits a peripheral neuron in an amount and for a duration sufficient to treat the microbial infection,
- wherein the chronic microbial infection is a subcutaneous microbial infection, and
- wherein the agent is a botulinum neurotoxin selected from the group consisting of:
- botulinum neurotoxin serotype A, botulinum neurotoxin serotype B, botulinum neurotoxin serotype C, botulinum neurotoxin serotype D, botulinum neurotoxin serotype E, botulinum neurotoxin serotype F, and botulinum neurotoxin serotype G.
