Systems and methods for discovery and configuration of a network device

An integrated circuit (IC) device, comprising:

• a bridge device including an endpoint packet switching module, a frame replication and elimination for reliability (FRER) unit, a first network port, a second network port, and an internal endpoint port, wherein the first and second network ports connect the bridge device to a time-sensitive networking (TSN) network external to the IC device, and wherein the internal endpoint port connects the bridge device to a plurality of processing units within the IC device;
• a first processing unit of the plurality of processing units, wherein the first processing unit includes an internal end station device that communicates with the bridge device using the internal endpoint port;
• and
• a second processing unit of the plurality of processing units, wherein the second processing unit includes a bridge management device that communicates with the bridge device using the internal endpoint port;
• wherein the first processing unit and the second processing unit communicate with each other using a multichannel direct memory access (DMA) within the IC device;
• and
• wherein the endpoint packet switching module snoops a point-to-point (PTP) control frame received at the internal endpoint port of the bridge device to determine a source MAC address of the snooped PTP control frame and performs a loopback operation, wherein the loopback operation performs a switch back of the PTP control frame from the internal end station device to the bridge management device and vice-versa, based on the determined source MAC address of the snooped PTP control frame.
