Transmitting fragments of ethernet frame with indicating error occurring in ethernet frame

A network device, comprising:

• a receiver configured to receive a plurality of fragments of an Ethernet frame, wherein the fragments comprise an initial fragment and a first fragment, and wherein the initial fragment comprises a destination media access control (MAC) address field;
• a processor coupled to the receiver and configured to:
• determine a frame check sequence (FCS) value of the Ethernet frame based on the fragments;
• determine, based on the FCS value, that an error occurs in the Ethernet frame;
• and
• change the first fragment to a second fragment in response to the error, wherein the first fragment comprises first type indication information and first to-be-transmitted data, wherein the first type indication information indicates a first type of the first to-be-transmitted data, wherein the second fragment comprises second type indication information and second to-be-transmitted data, wherein the second type indication information indicates that a second type of the second to-be-transmitted data is a control character, wherein a first value of the first to-be-transmitted data is not equal to a second value of the second to-be-transmitted data, and wherein the second to-be-transmitted data indicates that the error occurs;
• and
• a transmitter coupled to the processor and configured to send the second fragment to a destination device,
• wherein a third value of the destination MAC address field is equal to a first MAC address of the destination device, and
• wherein the first MAC address is not equal to a second MAC address of a forwarding device.
