Abstract
A system, method and computer readable medium for operating a First In, First Out (FIFO) buffer that transfers data between a host and a plurality of endpoints using chip select is disclosed. The method includes receiving a current value of a read pointer and a status for an active endpoint and reading data at a location to which the read pointer points and setting a tag associated with the location to which the read pointer points to indicate availability.
Claims20
A device comprising:
- a host interface;
- a plurality of endpoint interfaces;
- and
- a buffer circuit coupled between the host interface and the plurality of endpoint interfaces, wherein the plurality of endpoint interfaces share a common path to the buffer circuit, wherein the buffer circuit includes:
- a circular buffer that includes a set of data locations and a set of tag locations;
- and
- a set of registers that includes a respective register for each endpoint interface of the plurality of endpoint interfaces, wherein the set of registers is coupled to the circular buffer to read from and write to the set of data locations and the set of tag locations.

A method comprising:
- receiving, at a buffer, a write request associated with a first endpoint of a plurality of endpoints coupled to the buffer, wherein the plurality of endpoint interfaces share a common path to the buffer, wherein the first endpoint has a read pointer and a write pointer associated therewith;
- determining an available data location in the buffer;
- and
- determining when to write data associated with the write request to the available data location based on the read pointer and the write pointer associated with the first endpoint.
