Abstract
Aspects of the present disclosure are directed toward designs and methods of improving driving of switching devices. One proposed solution to improving driving of switching devices is an auxiliary control circuit that selectively guides the switching device through at least one switching region, permitting an improved operation of the switching device.
Claims20
A device, comprising:
- a first switching device coupled to a load;
- a first voltage source;
- a control signal generator configured to provide a control signal;
- a second switching device between the first switching device and the first voltage source, wherein the second switching device is configured to provide a shaped current in response to a control signal, wherein the control signal generator is configured to provide the control signal to the second switching device based at least in part on one or more feedback signals from the load, the second switching device, or both, and wherein the shaped current is generated to actuate the first switching device based at least in part on an output from the first voltage source;
- and
- a capacitor directly coupled between the first voltage source and the second switching device.

A circuit, comprising:
- a first switching device configured to couple, via a first terminal, to a first impedance and to couple, via a second terminal, to a second impedance, wherein the first switching device is configured to supply a current shaped by the first impedance and the second impedance to a second switching device coupled to a load in response to a control signal;
- and
- a first voltage source configured to generate the control signal based at least in part on a feedback signal from the first switching device.
A power converter system, comprising:
- a load configured to operate based at least in part on a supplied electrical signal;
- and
- a switching network configured to selectively deliver the supplied electrical signal based at least in part on a control scheme associated with operation of the load, wherein the switching network comprises:
- a power device configured to enable in response to a control signal generated according to the control scheme, wherein enabling of the power device provides the supplied electrical signal to the load;
- and
- an auxiliary control circuit configured to shape the control signal by adjusting characteristics of the control signal, wherein the auxiliary control circuit comprises a first switch, and wherein the first switch is coupled, via a first device, to a source of the control signal and coupled, via a second device, to the power device, wherein the first device is characterized by a capacitance and the second device is characterized by a resistance.
