Abstract
An electric motor includes an end turn ring and a cooling structure that is in a thermally conductive relationship with the end turn ring.
Claims22
An electric motor, comprising:
- a stator body that defines slots;
- winding bars that are each disposed in one of the slots defined by the stator body;
- and
- an end turn ring that has an outermost upper exterior ring surface and an outermost lower exterior ring surface, and includes bus bars that are arranged in a circular array, wherein each bus bar has a first end portion that is connected to one of the winding bars, the first end portion having a lower bar surface that defines part of the outermost lower exterior ring surface, and wherein each bus bar has a second end portion that is connected to one of the winding bars, the second end portion having an upper bar surface that defines part of the outermost upper exterior ring surface.

An electric motor, comprising:
- a stator body that defines slots;
- winding bars that are each disposed in one of the slots defined by the stator body;
- and
- bus bars arranged in a circular array around the stator body, the bus bars including adjacent bus bars coupled to each other by a non-conductive body, wherein each of the adjacent bus bars includes a first end portion and a second end portion, each of the first end portions being aligned with each other at a first elevation and configured to receive one of the winding bars, and each of the second end portions being aligned with each other at a second elevation and configured to receive another one of the winding bars.

An electric motor, comprising:
- a stator body that defines slots;
- winding bars that are each disposed in one of the slots defined by the stator body;
- and
- an end turn ring that has an outermost upper exterior ring surface and an outermost lower exterior ring surface and includes bus bars, wherein each bus bar includes:
- a first end portion defining a first aperture that receives one of the winding bars and having a lower bar surface that defines part of the outermost lower exterior ring surface;
- and
- a second end portion defining a second aperture that receives one of the winding bars and having an upper bar surface that defines part of the outermost upper exterior ring surface.
