Abstract
Some embodiments of the invention provide a method for concurrently presenting two synchronized animations based on an input value that is received through an input interface of a device. The method defines, based on the received input, a first animation that presents a first animated object, and then uses a set of attributes of the first animation to define a second animation that presents a second animated object. The method then displays at least portions of the first and second animations concurrently. In some embodiments, the method displays the first and second animations on a display screen of the device, or on a display screen connected to the device.
Claims18
A method comprising:
- receiving, by a mapping application of a device, a selection of a point of interest on a map;
- presenting a first display area and a second display area that overlap the map, wherein the first display area overlaps a first portion of the second display area, the first display area having a first attribute;
- receiving an input on the first display area;
- and
- based on the input, initiating a first animation for the first display area and the second display area at a first time;
- causing the first display area and the second display area to travel a first distance during the first animation;
- during the first animation, determining that a first attribute value for the first attribute has crossed a first threshold;
- based on the determination, determining a second time that is later than the first time for initiating a second animation that reveals the first portion of the second display area having a second attribute, the second display area extending from beneath the first display area;
- initiating the second animation for the second display area at the second time, the second animation animating the second display area according to a second attribute value;
- and
- causing, by the second animation, the second display area to travel a second distance that is more than the first distance during the second animation, thereby revealing a second portion of the second display area during the second animation.
A non-transitory machine readable medium storing a program executed by at least one processing unit, the program comprising sets of instructions for:
- receiving, by a mapping application of a device, a selection of a point of interest on a map;
- presenting a first display area and a second display area that overlaps the map, wherein the first display area overlaps a first portion of the second display area, the first display area having a first attribute;
- receiving an input on the first display area;
- and
- based on the input, initiating a first animation for the first display area and the second display area at a first time;
- causing the first display area and the second display area to travel a first distance during the first animation;
- during the first animation, determining that a first attribute value for the first attribute has crossed a first threshold;
- based on the determination, determining a second time that is later than the first time for initiating a second animation that reveals the first portion of the second display area having a second attribute, the second display area extending from beneath the first display area;
- initiating the second animation for the second display area at the second time, the second animation animating the second display area according to a second attribute value;
- and
- causing, by the second animation, the second display area to travel a second distance that is more than the first distance during the second animation, thereby revealing a second portion of the second display area during the second animation.
A mobile device comprising:
- a display screen;
- an input interface;
- a set of processing units for executing instructions;
- a non-transitory machine readable medium storing a program which when executed by at least one processing unit presents two animations concurrently on the display screen, the program comprising sets of instructions for:
- receiving, by a mapping application of a device, a selection of a point of interest on a map;
- presenting a first display area and a second display area that overlaps the map, wherein the first display area overlaps a first portion of the second display area, the first display area having a first attribute;
- receiving an input on the first display area;
- and
- in response to the input, initiating a first animation for the first display area and the second display area at a first time;
- causing the first display area and the second display area to travel a first distance during the first animation;
- during the first animation, determining that a first attribute value for the first attribute has crossed a first threshold;
- based on the determination, determining a second time that is later than the first time for initiating a second animation that reveals the first portion of the second display area having a second attribute, the second display area extending from beneath the first display area;
- and
- initiating the second animation for the second display area at the second time, the second animation animating the second display area according to a second attribute value;
- and
- causing, by the second animation, the second display area to travel a second distance that is more than the first distance during the second animation, thereby revealing a second portion of the second display area during the second animation.
