- a processing system including a processor;

- a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- obtaining a state diagram of a software management system, wherein the software management system manages at least a first software, the state diagram describing a behavior of the first software in response to a series of events;
- and
- configuring a license usage management system based on the state diagram.
