Efficient adjustment of spin-locking parameter values

A system comprising:

• one or more processors:
• a memory storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause:
• continuously retrieving from a resource management system, through a continuously running independent process, state values defining a state of the resource management system;
• based on one or more of the state values retrieved at a first point in time and one or more of the state values retrieved at a second point in time that is after the first point in time, determining that the resource management system has reached a steady state;
• in response to determining that the resource management system has reached a steady state, adjusting a plurality of parameters for spin-locking performed by said resource management system comprising identifying first optimal values for the plurality of parameters and setting the plurality of parameters to the first optimal values;
• and
• after setting the plurality of parameters to the first optimal values, the resource management system performing spin-locking based on the first optimal values.

One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause:

• continuously retrieving from a resource management system, through a continuously running independent process, state values defining a state of the resource management system;
• based on one or more of the state values retrieved at a first point in time and one or more of the state values retrieved at a second point in time that is after the first point in time, detecting a workload change in the resource management system;
• in response to detecting the workload change, initializing a second independent process to detect a steady state in the resource management system;
• through the second independent process, detecting a steady state in the resource management system and, in response, adjusting a plurality of parameters for spin-locking performed by said resource management system comprising identifying optimal values for the plurality of parameters and setting the plurality of parameters to the optimal values;
• and
• after setting the plurality of parameters to the optimal values, the resource management system performing spin-locking based on the optimal values.
