The cornea contact has a ring-shape that protrudes from the concave side of the enclosure and is disposed under at least a portion of the rigid insert. The ring-shape of the cornea contact includes a plurality of discontinuous sections. The plurality of channels are disposed on the concave side of the enclosure and each extend through a corresponding one of the discontinuous sections of the cornea contact.
Claims16

- a rigid insert;
- and
- an enclosure enveloping the rigid insert, wherein the enclosure includes:
- a cornea contact formed on a concave side of the enclosure, the cornea contact having a ring-shape that protrudes from the concave side of the enclosure and is disposed under at least a portion of the rigid insert, wherein the ring-shape of the cornea contact includes a plurality of discontinuous sections;
- and
- a plurality of channels disposed on the concave side of the enclosure and each extending through a corresponding one of the discontinuous sections of the cornea contact.
An ophthalmic device, comprising:
- an enclosure having an insert disposed therein, the enclosure including:
- a cornea contact disposed on a posterior side of the enclosure and arranged to rest on a user's cornea outside of a central cornea area when the ophthalmic device is worn by a user, wherein the cornea contact extends around a center area of the insert;
