An acid addition salt 2R,6R-hydroxynorketamine L-pyroglutamate having an X-ray powder diffraction pattern comprising a characteristic peak expressed in degrees 2-theta at position 14.3 further comprising characteristic peaks at positions 19.9 and 23.8 and further comprising characteristic peaks at positions 12.0, 13.6, 15.2, 20.8, 26.2, and 28.9.
