Abstract
Generally, a device to measure the circumference of circular objects. Specifically, a device including a pair of slidingly engaged members disposed between a pair of arms configured to be engaged with tread on a tire at about the midline of a wheel, an electrical circuit which varies in output voltage based on the distance between the pair of arms, and a processor communicatively coupled to a non-transitory computer readable medium containing a program which correlates the output voltage of the electrical circuit to a unit measure of distance between the pair of arms and calculates tire circumference.
Claims15
A device, comprising:
- a body having a first tubular body member slidably telescopingly engaged to cover a second tubular body member between a body first end and a body second end;
- a pair of arms, wherein a first of said pair of arms outwardly extends from said body first end, and wherein a second of said pair of arms outwardly extends from said body second end, wherein said first body member slidably engaged to a second body member allows a distance to vary between said pair of arms;
- an electrical circuit, wherein output voltage of said electrical circuit varies based on said distance between said pair of arms;
- a processor communicatively coupled to a non-transitory computer readable medium containing a program executable to:
- correlate the output voltage in said electrical circuit to said distance between said pair of arms;
- calculate a circumference of a circle corresponding to said distance between said pair of arms;
- implement a user interface including a numeric display;
- and
- read out said circumference of said circle corresponding to said distance between said pair of arms in measurement units on said numeric display.
A device, comprising:
- a body having a first body member slidably engaged to a second body member between a body first end and a body second end;
- a pair of arms, wherein a first of said pair of arms outwardly extends from said body first end, and wherein a second of said pair of arms outwardly extends from said body second end, wherein said first body member slidably engaged to a second body member allows distance to vary between said pair of arms to allow said first and second pair of arms to correspondingly engage a tread of a tire at about a midline of a wheel;
- an electrical circuit associated with said body, wherein said electrical circuit comprises a resistance track mounted in fixed spatial relation inside said first body member and a sliding contact coupled to said second body member, said sliding contact moves along said resistance track, wherein output voltage of said electrical circuit varies based on a distance between said pair of arms engaged to said tread of said tire;
- a processor communicatively coupled to a non-transitory computer readable medium containing a program executable to:
- correlate said output voltage of said electrical circuit to said distance between said pair of arms engaged to said tread of said tire;
- calculate a circumference of said tire based on said distance between said pair of arms engaged to said tread of said tire;
- implement a user interface including a numeric display;
- and
- read out said circumference of said tires based to said distance between said pair of arms engaged to said tread of said tire in measurement units on said numeric display.
A method of making a device, comprising:
- slidably telescopingly engaging a first tubular body member to cover a second body member of a body between a body first end and a body second end;
- outwardly extending a pair of arms from said body, wherein a first of said pair of arms outwardly extends from said body first end, and wherein a second of said pair of arms outwardly extends from said body second end, wherein said first body member slidably engaged to a second body member allows a distance to vary between said pair of arms;
- associating an electrical circuit with said body, wherein output voltage of said electrical circuit varies based on said distance between said pair of arms;
- communicatively coupling a processor to a non-transitory computer readable medium containing a program, and executing said program to:
- correlate the output voltage in said electrical circuit to said distance between said pair of arms;
- calculate a circumference of a circle corresponding to said distance between said pair of arms;
- implement a user interface including a numeric display;
- and
- read out said circumference of said circle corresponding to said distance between said pair of arms in measurement units on said numeric display.
A method of using a device, comprising:
- obtaining said device including:
- a body having a first tubular body member slidably telescopingly engaged to cover a second tubular body member between a body first end and a body second end;
- a pair of arms, wherein a first of said pair of arms outwardly extends from said body first end, and wherein a second of said pair of arms outwardly extends from said body second end, wherein said first body member slidably engaged to a second body member allows distance to vary between said pair of arms;
- an electrical circuit, wherein output voltage of said electrical circuit varies based on a distance between said pair of arms engaged to said tread of said tire;
- engaging said first and second pair of arms to correspondingly engage a tread of a tire at about a midline of a wheel;
- activating a processor communicatively coupled to a non-transitory computer readable medium containing a program executable to:
- correlate said output voltage of said electrical circuit to said distance between said pair of arms engaged to said tread of said tire;
- calculate a circumference of said tire based on said distance between said pair of arms engaged to said tread of said tire;
- implement a user interface including a numeric display;
- and
- read out said circumference of said tire based on said distance between said pair of arms engaged to said tread of said tire in measurement units on said numeric display.
